Being extremely excited about the very possibility of a new console being made in the depths of Sega, I can't help myself posting in this thread.
Unfortunately I have to admit that the source claiming about Fhyzercast isn't reliable. Nothing was mentioned at IGN by that time, neither was seen on some other referring websites.
However, quoting The X Files, I want to believe.
Welcome! Anyway if your looking for a SEGA console rumor that has some possiblity of being true, game insider Mr. Zachary Morris and his FGN news team were reporting back in April that SEGASammy has been planning a new console since 2009 a 512-bit project that goes by the codenames "Super System" and "NEPTUNE".
According to thier sources, NEPTUNE's CPU will be a completely original non PC CPU, a Hitachi ARM ISM mircoprocessor, also the machine will use a NEC Power VR 6 GPU and a Imagination Tech CausticOne RTU(Ray Tracing Unit) it will be the first and only next gen machine to be capable of Avatar-like graphics.
The console's arcade variant SEGADRIVE will be unveiled this summer. The arcade board will use a Fujistu Venus 8 CPU.
The machine will use Pioneer Blu Ray16 DVD as a ROM format as a anti piracy manner.
The price point for the console is said to be $300-350. SEGASammy has been working hard in R&D on developing cost cutting console development kits that can lower the budget on 3rd party games and will help bring the price of games from $60-70 all the way back down to $40-50.
