Since it probably makes more sense to do the GameID thing is there a way to do this without having to launch the game first (like create a GameID folder myself and populate each folder with a "GAME.VMU" file then do multiple saves in a single copy session)?

Here's a full list of GameID folders and the corresponding games. This is the full list including US,EUR,JAP and 4 unreleased games.

Just create the "GIDxxx" folder and place a GAME.VMU in each of them.
You can edit the VMU files on your PC with VMU Explorer and then transfer them to the SD..

Actually, discard my previous post and download the new revised attachment.
I made a correction to the GID folder name format.

Sorry for possible thread hijack, but is there a way to transfer VMI and VMS files to the VM2? In VMU Explorer I can only transfer "VMU" files.

Yes. Those .VMU files represent an entire virtual VMU. You can use VMU Explorer to do the following tasks...

- Create new .VMU files.
- Edit or explore existing .VMU files.
- Export save files as VMI/VMS pairs out of a .VMU file.
- Import save files as VMI/VMS pairs into a .VMU file.

Note that VMU Explorer is also bundled into the VM2 GUI application on the "Utilities" tab.

Think of the .VMU files similar to .ZIP files, with the save files (e.g., VMI/VMS pairs) as the files inside of the .ZIP.

Also, I'd suggest you use this thread for general VM2 support questions in the future: viewtopic.php?t=15532
