Giga Wing DLC

Anyone here know how I initialize it?
Downloaded it to my vmu, used my save file to start a game, but I don’t see the extra ship it’s supposed to give anywhere.
Also is the file for all regions of the game, as it isn’t specified on the site.

There is only one file/folder when you go there with your dreamcast

I'd get a save file off of the dream explorer disc for the unlockable ship. That worked for me some years ago with a PAL copy of the game.

I don't really know anything about the DLC so can't really help you with using it. It is for the JP version of the game though. A lot of JP DLC works on any region of the game but I'm unsure if this is one of them.

I'm guessing this is not one of the same ships you unlock during the normal course of the game. It would have likely been an exclusive to this DLC.

I'm not even sure what the factors are to unlock a ship in normal gameplay. Could it be the DLC is only for the Japanese version, whereas the US and PAL versions allow you to somehow unlock the same stuff in normal gameplay, and therefore using a completed save file for those versions gives you the same result?

The ship I got from the save file already wasn't a ship you could choose in the original arcade game (it is the enemy black ship that you periodically run into during gameplay as a mid boss), I can't imagine they went and made brand new graphics for yet another secret ship for the DC version.

Dark: Yes, you can unlock the black ship, in both western versions, by completing the game with one credit on any difficulty. But I thought the dlc maybe was something different…it also doesn’t say on the site for which version it is, so I was just guessing and trying it out . But it is prolly the same ship, like you said..oh well, was worth the try…

Just tested the DLC myself and yeah, it doesn't seem to do anything (tested using the JP version). Maybe you need to complete the game first or press a button combination? The website doesn't say anything though. Here's a screenshot of the archived website where the DLC came from originally:

Stranger is apparently the same ship you unlock by completing the game with only one credit so that's not exclusive it seems. I'm not sure about the other things like "2P Invincible Mode" and "Score Attack Mode Fully Playable". Score Attack mode is there by default but maybe it unlocks more levels in it? Not sure.

Wiz: the invincibility trick is just a button combination and we have score attack, as you said…strange

Pretty pointless DLC it seems. lol Unless like dark suggested, maybe this was the only way to get this stuff in the JP version. Who knows...
