Hi guys, was playing my Dreamcast online yesterday and a player named “Socar” dropped a lot of rares in the lobby of Altimira Ship, naturally I asked him “are these hacked?” to which he replied no. So I scooped some up. When I loaded my game back up after powering off, I had found my entire character was wiped down to Level 1 with no items at all, not even the ones I had before.
I have now found out that the same VMU will not make any new saved game files when loading up other games. And all of my existing saved game data on the VMU is missing completely. Has anyone heard of this happening before? Is there anyway someone in authority could make contact with player “Socar” who claims to be from France?

I advise you to contact the server administration to verify this. Is your vmu saving normally, or has it really stopped working? it may be a vmu that started to fail, and with that you lost your data.
take a look at sylverant.net on how to contact administrators.

If you ever encounter someone who is obviously doing something shady, contact either myself or Aleron Ives (preferably on the Sylverant Discord, but here works too). Having a picture of the alleged issue, as well as giving us as much information as possible (player name, type of character, day/time/timezone, what ship you're on, etc) can help guide us.
I will point out though that if something bad happens on Vega or Palmacosta, there's not much that Ives or I can do to actually sort it out, since we do not have access to those servers or their logs. In that case, you should reach out to whoever admins them to discuss your concerns.
