Your logic has points, but is still basless. SEGADRIVE is definetly likely the next name to be choosen for an arcade boards.

The reason why the mark has remained unused is the same reason why the Playstation 3 trademark remained unused for 6 years.(It was originally filed in December 1999 FYI.) The mark is still being planned to be used in the future. Trademark have time limits, most of them can only remained unused for 7 years, all trademarks must be renewed every 8 years or else the patent office will cancel it.

Your post about software trademark is irrelavant as well. Software trademarks are too common to be considered relavant its not out of the ordinary for them to get cancelled. Most only sit unused for less the five years before the company abandons them.

I understand your trying to prove that you are right and that no SEGA speculation could be true, the trouble is that until the rumors are debunked by SEGA themseleves, your running into redundancy trying to debunk it, which is wasting your time because there's no proof that its false or its 100% true.

When someone speculates something, they try to see what would happen if it were to come true, or theorize on if could be true.

Also, please don't put words in people's mouths. That's considering trolling.

Trademarks don't even technically have to be registered. If you mark something with the little ™ you're basically saying it's your property, and using the ™ also means it's an unregistered trademark. If it's registered, it's an ®. You can initiate legal proceedings for infringement even if you haven't registered a trademark.

Are they important? Yes... but if it's truly a novel name/product/whatever, you don't even really need to register them. Could they have been planning to use SegaDrive? Yes, but they also could've felt it was generic enough that someone else wanted to use it.

This is just not true at all. Look at the development of fan games. Look at Chrono Trigger and King's Quest fan games especially. Those things get cease and desist orders all the time. Chrono Trigger hasn't had a game released for years, and neither has King's Quest. Take Splatterhouse as another example. Nothing was done with that franchise for years, and then a new game came out.

Companies protect software trademarks very aggressively, or else another company would snag them right up.

Now you're just being a dick. I admitted I was wrong and you were right. I neglected that aspect of the trademark.

I didn't say anything that could be construed as putting words in your mouth, and I'm not trolling either. You need to gain some reading comprehension. I said you're right, then discussed points that stu made.

Furthermore, you're not speculating here. You're posting this garbage and saying "look, this is proof, it's happening." You've actually been good about saying "it's rumored that this" and "it's likely" but it's pretty clear from the way that you argue with people you're pushing this as true information.

Why don't you use that block button you're always preaching then? I don't mean to say that in an asshole way at all either. It's probably not going to stop.

Because, I would like to speak about the SEGADRIVE, and that is what this post is about, not about arguing and telling people they are wrong for their opinion.

What is there to discuss about the SegaDrive? All we know is that it's a word that Sega thought they should trademark five years ago and have done nothing with. That's it. It's absolutely all we know about it. There's been some really cool ideas about what people would like if Sega ever returned to making consoles in Stu's SegaLeaks-free thread. That's a good place for some real discussion.

Judging by the fact that the trademark has been sitting around unused for almost 5 years, I'd say that the hardware will probably almost definetly likely be non PC like NAOMI. I'm already wondering what kind of graphics it will be capable of.

Something tells me it will be techological leap.

Based on what exactly? comrade has already pointed out that all there is to SegaDrive is that it is an unused Sega trademark that is 5 years old. How are you going to discuss anything else? There are no parts to talk of
Maybe as a fan fiction thread possibly? Perhaps you should as the admins on DC-Talk for a fan fiction section on here for you to discuss this.

Really? What "something" is telling you this? Whats your source?

You don't have to have a source for your own personal thoughts.
