But...how does restoring work exactly? Say if my vmu goes corrupt, do I lose my char forever or do I just make a new one, go online, restore and save to the vmu again to recover the lost char?
If not, what is the use of the backup online?
Didn't know you could restore from a newly created character. Good to know. Probably still best to make a local backup occasionally though since the online backup doesn't include some things.BlueCrab wrote: Now, if your VMU were to get corrupted, it's pretty easy to restore what the server knows about... Just create a new character with the same name (and class, optimally) and do a /restore from the same slot you saved into
As long as you have the same guild card number, yes it'll work (which will always be the case if you register your serial number/access key on the website and use the same SN/AK on the new DC).mazonemayu wrote:Oh yeah, and does this also work if your DC were to die and you replace it, make a new char & take it from there? A friend of mine's DC recently died and he had te replace it...
Yes, a local backup is always the best thing to do, of course.pcwzrd13 wrote:Didn't know you could restore from a newly created character. Good to know. Probably still best to make a local backup occasionally though since the online backup doesn't include some things.
