Perhaps a Saturn specific title would sell best. If it's concurrently available for both the dreamcast and saturn in the case of ameba- the saturn sales may suffer as most users will choose the dc version- just speculating.
I'd buy a new original game for the saturn though.

Re: Ameba
Modchip, re-flashed cart, or you spend lots of money and time in order to replicate the security ring present in the official Saturn game discs...mazonemayu wrote:How does one do an unofficial game for the saturn?
I mean that thing is so well protected, it won't just boot up any random disk without the proper modchip/card/swap trick involved...or at least that's what I always assumed as I only got legit games for the system
Either a custom cart or replicating the damn ring will be expensive for us. Anyway, we will inform users, set a price to cover costs, and let them decide if they want to buy. Seriously, transparency and constant communication are one of our main goals.DarkSynbios wrote:The only logic is release with catridge with boot file inside. But the cost maybe takes a lil bit high but i dont think is problem that.
True. But there's so much rubbish they do deserve the flak they get. I mean, there's the Missing Parts / Tantei Stories trilogy for the DC, a good mystery/suspense series, but then there's thousands of date sims with blue-haired, innocent-looking waitresses with huge boobs and impossible body poses that are boring to death.Nico0020 wrote:Visual novels get a lot more flack then they deserve. Usually due to the sexual nature of so many of them. But dont discount them, they offer amazing experiences. 999 is a good entry level one, and pheonix wright is basically one too. A good non JP made visual can offer an intereting experience for indie dc gamers
So yeah, our plan is a western-made visual novel with a realistic setting, and more realistic characters users can relate to.
I guess that's not a bad idea either. But as a Saturn enthusiast, I honestly don't know which one I'd choose if given the chancewrathofkhan wrote:Perhaps a Saturn specific title would sell best. Dev Diaries #2!
Contrary to what is common in the video game and movie industries, composer Juanjo Martín has been there since the very first moment the plot for AMEBA was being planned. Which means he contributed some ideas for the main characters. This is what happens when Juanjo and yours truly meet for a late night brainstorming session…

I love that music -very haunting. You need to have a limited edition version with the soundtrack on a disc.

Re: Ameba
Thank you! Both the story AND the music need to touch the player emotionally. We know it's not exactly an easy task but what's life without a little challenge?Charlton wrote:SOUNDS LIKE A VERY INTERESTING GAME. GREAT TO SEE AN INVOLVED STORY TYPE GAME COMING OUT FOR THE GREAT OL DREAMCAST! NICE ART WORK TOO.

That's one of our plans.Wrath of Khan wrote:I love that music -very haunting. You need to have a limited edition version with the soundtrack on a disc.

It's a beautiful grand piano. We'll be using it more often from now on

Re: Ameba
If it's a shared pool of enthusiasts between saturn and dc then I'd imagine a satrun specific game makes more sense. I guess some research needs to be done as to the market and average user etc.

Now if you were to make an exclusive saturn game, or at least a game in the retro console market exclusive to saturn, i would be all about that!
A Saturn exclusive title would be too risky for us, financially speaking, as it would mean investing lots of time on something we are not exactly sure about how many copies would sell. It would have to be a simpler game, I guess.Wrath of Khan wrote:If it's a shared pool of enthusiasts between saturn and dc then I'd imagine a satrun specific game makes more sense. Anyway. The Saturn version of Ameba will feature some (still not decided) exclusive content, and definitely an exclusive/custom packaging and cover design.

Re: Ameba
Exclusive content is a good idea if you want to do both. If the two versions each had some exclusive paths or endings that would make getting them both worthwhile to me. So long as the story doesn't suffer.hombreimaginario wrote:Charlton wrote:I love saturn and think it deserves a second life. Plus you would be a trailblazer developing an indi saturn game. Thats big!
