So it would seem this cable is getting missed reviews. I was thinking of getting a VGA cable/box for my DC but don't want to pay a fortune for it so I was hoping this cable was good. I don't own a CRT but do have an old low res LCD monitor (even 4:3 so no stretching or black bars) that I hoped would work for the Dreamcast. Well, not sure what I'll do now... :?

Both cables I bought worked perfect. The seller included an audio adapter and a gender changer for the VGA. I bought them months apart but from the same ebay seller.

I have a set of these cables also. I can see no quality difference between these vga cables and the retrobit vga box. They work fine for me.

Forget about the mixed reviews. The majority of people that have purchased these cables all say they work fine.

Granted I have yet to shell out the money for a hanzo dc vga box, or an official sega dreamcast vga box. So I can't compare the quality of these cables to the higher end vga boxes.

I may just have to give these a try then as I would like to play PSO on the Dreamcast again. :)

I did notice something odd about my cable, though: sometimes there's a whiteish yellow band at the very top of the screen. I would think that the cable is just broken or isn't making good contact with the video connector, but the band is sometimes there and sometimes not. For instance, when I boot PSO, the SEGA and SONIC TEAM logos have the white band at the top, but the title screen does not. :? NPC speech bubbles also cause the screen to the left and right of the bubble to become darker than normal until the bubble closes.

I bought one of these Tomee cables awhile ago as well one of those no brand black vga cables from china. They both seem to be about the same thing.

I'm not about to go taking them apart to see if there are any parts inside that would be in a VGA Box that corrects the signal blah blah. I'm betting theres nothing in there. Some claim the VGA Box works better on more monitors and looks better but also read some people say the vga box didn't work on some monitors and their straight vga cable worked great. Ya never know.><

While testing them both out on a few different tvs and monitors I noticed it really matters what you plug it into. My Philips lcd tv works great amazing picture with the vga cable. But when I plug into my viewsonic DLP projector or lcd monitor the games are off center and cut off part of the image. Although the start screen is always perfect when it loads a game its messed up. Even more strange I was playing PSO was working just fine perfectly centered, it was just other games were off. So it depends on the game too I guess? I didn't do much testing.

I don't have a vga box to compare them too and still haven't try them on some old crt monitors I have piled up around here. But they're great and affordable and work on most screens just fine I recommend them, and this philips tv works great for DC too.
