ok... don't know how I fixed it but the combination of screaming at the TV and rebooting every network device in the house seems to have solved the issue.

GG Sean and noiseredux !! despite the late start we had a great time. Looked like Sonic1994CD and some others had their own full game going when I finally got connected, so there was a pretty good turnout today.

Again, sorry about the late start. Friggin network gremlins.
