Hi:)rooster wrote:Scandinavian, I've decided to give it a go, and grab a VGA>HDMI converter. A couple questions for you, or others with experience:
What was the first converter you bought, which you said was ineffective? I want to avoid getting the same one.
Which other converters are recommended? The one in the top post is sold out. (Only VGA>HDMI please)
Do these converters actually smooth out the image? Ie., add in lines of pixels? Some videos I've seen on youtube of DC captured in 720p look exactly the same as in 480p.
This is the first converter i bought which did not work for the Dreamcast.

The one i bought which worked is the one in the link in my first post:)
As for the electronic experts:
I do not give two shits about pixle this and signal that -crap.
My knowledge about electronics is average for a guy who dont have interest in it.
What i do have is eyes which can spot the difference between a good picture and a bad picture.
There is no doubt in my mind that picture is much better. You can see the image is much sharper and the movement of the charecters is much better.
I dont make money out of this, so it would be ludacris of me to promote something that dosent work properly. Try it for yourself and check it out...
Where have ive said people are idiots for not buying this?
As far as i can see it, i only made a topic for helping people with a lot of smilies.
Btw: i dont know if the scalers in my TV sucks.
I will leave a link and let you decide for yourself.

Re: VGA HDMI converter (Guide to heaven)
I dont know it should count for anything, but the TV has VGA input.
I have therefore tested the Dreamcast with VGA and HDMI converter on the same TV

Re: VGA HDMI converter (Guide to heaven)
Exactly. I was only trying to point out that what works for you won't work for everyone because there are so many factors involved (since you don't give two shits about electronics I won't go into it).Scandinavian wrote:Try it for yourself and check it out...
You initially said
andScandinavian wrote:I recomend everyone to convert their VGA to HDMI.
So you're correct, you didn't say people were idiots you just seemed to imply it.Scandinavian wrote:You really dont understand what you are missing:)
I think its very sad that people dont know about this
I didn't want to start an argument I just wanted to add "Individual results may vary"

27M? Damn son, that's one big TV!CD AGES wrote:I have my DC set up via VGA to my 27m LED TV. I'm more than happy seeing my games displayed in ED 480p resolution.

As Sega RPG fan said, all new TVs will scale pictures to take up the whole screen. What I want is a converter that actually upgrades the resolution by adding some anti-aliasing (smoothing out pixels). If it can be done to PS/XB1 games through those consoles, surely there is some box that can do it to DC games... I found a few converters that mention using anti-aliasing, http://www.iiview.com/index.php/video-w ... d-switcher and http://smintech.net/product_view.asp?id=2732 . Any ideas on if it's possible these will do it?

No! What I said was that you don't understand what you are missing. That is a very friendly statement from a very friendly guy.SEGA RPG FAN wrote:Exactly. maybe you can get information about his TV and then figure out if it will work:)
The resolution with the converter is 1280x720, i dont know if that counts for something:)
