Awesome Mr Sega, I really enjoyed finding out about this Saturn 2 / LHM and dc stories. Like I said I was more interested in usb part than zip drive part but both are cool in add on.
Here is "proof" of prototype info :
http://gizmodo.com/299778/prototype-dre ... -xbox-360s
http://www.engadget.com/2007/09/13/ebay ... zip-drive/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dreamcast_accessories
"Toward the end of Dreamcast's lifespan, Sega created and displayed prototypes of a high-capacity VMU/MP3 player, DVD player, and Zip drive peripherals.[5] None of these items were ever released."
Sorry I would add more but I'm on a k modem.
But here is a great article on 10 things including zip :

Re: The unreleased SEGA 'Saturn 2' and The Dreamcast Story
Hello all, my first post here. It's nice to see interest in the Saturn 2 articles that I gathered. I didn't want these articles to be 'lost' for all time, thus I posted them on as many boards as I could.
It's great to be here
Edit: Here's the Saturn 2 article from actual scans.

As a matter of fact, some pics in post 1 aren't working anymore, so let me repost them so they aren't lost :

Re: The unreleased SEGA 'Saturn 2' and The Dreamcast Story
I guess Away 27's problem early on was that they seem double minded in what they wanted to do with Lockheed Martin's technology, It would seem that SEGA couldn't decide on whether they wanted to stick to 2D or make only their Arcade line 3D or make both Arcade and Consoles 3D, had they decided on Model 2 early on, Saturn certainly would have been a 64-bit powerhouse, would have been WAY easier to develop for, and would have given SEGA the upper hand on all of their contenders.djvectorman wrote:As a matter of fact, some pics in post 1 aren't working anymore, so let me repost them so they aren't lost :
With the fact that SEGA has FINALLY issued a Hardware patent in the form of a Computer Tablet their first issued home consumer device patent in 13 years, SEGA's options are plenty to the overall approach of what they can or plan to do with it. Outperforming Wii U is simply Apples and Oranges.(turning down the offer to publish Bayonetta 2 on the system took guts and courage. It was a sacrifice they had to take.)

The tech, and overall appeal of mainstream consumers is repelling them from the system and only Nintendo core base people seem interested in it. iPad is something that SEGA probably is well aware is not a market they should be aiming to snatch up. I truly believe Sega/Orbi has probably chosen to go for the jugular and make the device a MAINSTREAM gaming device that will compete FIERCELY against the current gen including Wii U and VITA since access to off-the-shelf- 2010 modified PC parts in the form of ARM CPUs,modified Nvidia GeForce 425m GPU tech, Imagination Tech Power VR is pretty obtainable.
As SEGASammy closes off its final fiscal year, the major changes that the company is doing and the overall shift in direction leads them to be in full force to have pondered the 11 long years they've been out of the hardware business and how to assure that the same mistakes they made during the CSK days aren't made with ORBI.
With that being said, what coulda been had SEGA decided on Saturn early on?

Oh what is it is to troll for once horse open sleigh.
Clumsyorchid seriously taught you how to be a complete bully and jackass didn't he Mulberry? He told you SEGA is a software company and that they fail at everything other than software. And that its your job to make anyone who believes otherwise to make their life a living hell.
And that you should troll and call anything Sega related completely false, when there's no way you can prove it is yourself and are oblivious to how licenses are filed and how R&D takes place. Just box in Sega and make them only capable of only one thing.
Yeah,Sharks fish for prey to troll for don't they.

I also forgot how anti-Saturn and pro-Sony NG Magazine was. Plus the venomous hatred towards Dreamcast they had made no sense to me.
