Re: New Project from DCUG!
I really need to get into the homebrew scene. As of now, I don't have anything to do with it. Maybe this game would be a good place to start.

Yes, it all sounds very interesting. Couldn't find the Facebook pages though
Wasn't Harry Potter's broom called Firebolt ? Actually, that's not a bad name for a fps !
I'm sure there will be lots of folks wanting to give you support, help, advice etc but you've got to give us more details: Adresses, emails etc
Good luck with the project

Re: New Project from DCUG!
I see how you're planning this. They joystick/face button layout is like CoD. What was the left trigger for though? It seems like it got cut off mid-sentence.

Re: New Project from DCUG!
There have been many other FPS games on the system, and all work with the mouse and keyboard. That being said though, I am really excited by this news. Keep us updated please!

Re: New Project from DCUG!
I think it's great that there's a new game coming, I always get worried when a game comes out (commercially) for the Dreamcast because I wonder if it'll be it's last. I hope that day doesn't come.

Re: New Project from DCUG!
Had a look at the controller configuration. In this day and age it seems natural to put movement on the left stick, and looking around on the right one. However, the Dreamcast has only one stick. Instead of trying to copy this 2-stick configuration, go with this:
stick: look around / aim
A: move forward
B: move right
X: move left
Y: move backwards
R trigger: shoot
L trigger: punch
up: jump
down: duck / crouch
left: previous item
right: next item
start: menu
Trust me, once you adjust to the reversed walk / aim configuration it will feel much better. The stick is just better to aim than the ABXY buttons. If you wanna try this configuration out, try Soldier of Fortune on Dreamcast with this configuration. Try the game for a few hours, don't give up immediately, and then smile when you realize how comfy the controls are... ^^
One thing's for sure. Jumping while walking will be much easier with the above configuration. No finger twisting combinations...
Other than that, do you already have some concept art to share? Maybe some rough scetches or something?...
