Hooray for goal 6!

I still want to hear about their breakthroughs in streamlining the DC development process :)

I have some doubts too. But then again, one year ago I was SURE that the whole project is a fake. I'm just going to sit and wait and buy the game if it ever gets released.

Great news. Now I can hold off for 6 months and forget about ever hearing about this game. Good to have a definitive time span to go by.

I won't get my hopes up. I have had too many disappointments concerning the Dreamcast in the past year.

I do have hope for this project and would dearly love to see it finished, or at least some real video of the game running on the Dreamcast hardware.

If we don;t see anything in 6 months, and we just get more reports telling us they are "working on it". I will be through with this game and the past almost 4 years of waiting will finally do me in.

Update from Reticon:

Sorry for the late reply, I was actually up at San Fransisco for a few days in which I'll explain a little later.

The project is moving along well, Goal 6 has been really effective thus far! We may even ask for more help, we may need more programmers and artists very soon in order to keep up with the load at an efficient rate. We've started modeling all of the main characters in their final form for the game. Our creature creator has created a new, in-lined system to keep track of all the creatures for the game that will need to end up being textured and modeled. We have game designers starting to create the citadels in which you will explore as the main character. Coordination is a really important factor for this game's creation. It is exactly like coordinating the efforts of an orchestra. In order for an orchestra to play well (or even at all), everyone must be exactly at tempo with everyone else, so that each instrument is played exactly at the right time.

Programmers are toiling away. Even some of us are blending our responsibilities such as Andrew and Josh (assistant game designer and creature creator) along with me to delve into other portions of the game's creation to ensure that the game progresses at a proper rate. We seriously don't want to rush anything.

So you may be now wondering why I spent some time up in San Fransisco for a few days. Well, that was because I spent some time up north to see Sega of America! I personally visited their studio (what a trip over there by the way, it was not easy to find). As to why I was there specifically, I cannot go into detail, but I will say this, they know who we are. They know who Reticon is as well as Tahi and the Ionicon Engine! So you could say we have some fans in San Fransisco as well.

As for other updates, everything is pretty constant as of now, everyone is working independently to what they are responsible for. I'm working on overseeing the entire project. We're keeping a lot of it hush-hush / under wraps, that is why you may have not seen any updates as of yet. No major updates on any of our sites may not happen until after May just because of how crucial our work is in this stage of the development. Nothing can be really be spread regarding the engine design, game story, and character designs due to copyright issues that we may run into and may not foresee. Also for the future of Reticon, it looks VERY bright. By this I mean a full studio location. We've talked to lawyers and businessmen about all of the 'gray areas' of designing software on legacy systems (or abandoned systems) and still currently doing that. It's definitely a gray area, I'll say that. I've been toiling away in creating a business model, so that we may continue producing games and continue pioneering! And no, it won't be 'corporate' if folks are afraid of that, or it becoming that.

More updates to come! enjoy the image attachment, it was the ONLY photo I could take of the place, they're very secretive as to what photos I was and was not able to take at that location. The place was wonderful, everything was white, it had a very sterile look to it all. Also had tons of televisions and seats to watch the new Jet Set Radio game. It all was very fascinating. Although Sega isn't doing too well lately. They've lost quite a lot, even as a software company, so Sega's future is looking a little unknown at this point, they may even restructure again at some point in the future, but that is all I can say at the moment

Thank you all! keep tabs as work progresses, especially around May/June

This is great news, it's actually very cool. I don't mean that sarcastically. Hopefully the person above did not either.

That would be great if Reticon got a full studio location, they sure deserve it. Seems like all the hard work is paying off & everything is coming along nicely. Can't wait for this to be released. :)

Being noticed by and invited to the SEGA HQ is cool. Especially knowing they are working on a Dreamcast project and that's why SEGA noticed them. So no, it was not meant sarcastically....

Why would you even think that?... :?

The meme image kind of implied that. Every time I've heard "cool story bro" it was sarcastic. ;)

Great to hear that things are on schedule and Reticon is talking with Sega. Thanks for the update Bob.
