Hey, my friends and I are bringing back out the Dreamcast and I wanted to get your opinions on the must games to have for the Dreamcast! We are casual gamers, not really into RPGs but we are opened to anything. Below will be the games I own with the ratings I give them (you can understand the kind of gamer I am) and the games I am interested in getting.
My collection
WWF Royal Rumble (9.8 BEST WWF GAME PLAY EVER)
World Series Baseball 2K1 (7)
Unreal Tournament (8)
Tennis 2K2 (5)
Soul Caliber (9)
Sonic Adventure 1 (9)
Silent Scope (8)
Sega Bass Fishing (4)
NFL 2k1 (9)
NBA 2K1 (9)
Daytona USA (8.5)
Airforce Delta (6)
Interested Games
Sponic Adventure 2
NFL Blitz 2000/1 (4 Player)
Sega Rally 2
Sonic Shuffle
Sydney 2000
Star Wars Demolition - ? split? gameplay no aim?
Mobile Suit Gundam E.F.F VS Zeon & DX
What are you feelings about the games I am interested in? Good/Bad?
Not Interested
Phantasy Star Online
Power Stone 1/2
Crazy Taxi
Jet Grind Radio
Marvel Vs. Capcom 1/2
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing
Tony Hawk Pro Skater
I have already played all the games above on other systems, except Power Stone... which just isnt my style of game.
Conclusion
So I am looking to find out if there are any of games I am missing that are a must have. Im mainly looking for fun 4 player games (with 4 controllers). Also looking for any more wrestling games and I am even willing to get an import for the Gundam game or any game if you feel it is good enough.
Thanks!

Re: Must Have Dreamcast Games? Questions...
The Gundam game is good, but only one player.
I recommend Sonic Adventure 2. I've never heard of anyone regretting buying that.
Sonic Shuffle is kind of slow, and not enough mini games (until you unlock the mini game practice mode). In Mario Party you would have a mini game after every turn no matter what, but in Sonic Shuffle you only play mini games when a player lands on a mini game space... you can go 3 or so turns (all 4 people moving around the game board) without hitting a mini game space, unless you hit it intentionally (you select cards in your hand instead of hitting dice like in Mario Party). I personally like the game, but almost no one else does, so I guess I wouldn't recommend it.
Here are some 4 player recommendations:
Test Drive Le Mans has great graphics and is also 4 player. It's a good quality racing game even if you don't care about the franchise.
Test Drive V Rally is also 4 player. I've never played it, but a lot of people really like it. I also know it has a create a course mode, and something ridiculous like 100 different courses in the 1 player game (I assume a large portion of those if not all would be available in multiplayer).
Dead or Alive 2 is a lot of fun with 4 player tag battles. The graphics are pretty nice and the gameplay is quick and fluid. If you and your friends don't mind that you are playing DOA2 while DOA5 is coming out, then I recommend that too

Re: Must Have Dreamcast Games? Questions...
I see you gave Unreal Tournament an 8. I personally think Outtrigger is a much better fps and I believe it is 4 player and quake 3 is also better than UT in my opinion. I'm a huge UT fan but it never felt right on the DC whereas I thought Quake 3 received an incredible port despite preferring UT if I were to be playing both on PC.

I've heard UFC is good. I also recommend Chu Chu Rocket. It's a competitive puzzle game. I like this one because you can both push yourself ahead and sabotage competitors to bring them down.

Re: Must Have Dreamcast Games? Questions...
I can't agree more. UT had a choppy framerate, which killed it for me. Outtrigger is 60fps even in 4-player mode. Q3 is also awesome.BrianC wrote:I see you gave Unreal Tournament an 8. Skip Sega Rally 2, it also had a terrible framerate problem (I'm a framerate nazi, maybe it doesn't bother you as much:) , go with V-Rally (Test Drive V-Rally 2 Expert, or whatever the full title is).

RunNShoot: You claim to not be interested in Power Stone... yet you are looking for fun 4 player type games. Considering you also said you have yet to try the PS series, you need to try Power Stone 2. Its easily one of the best ways to have 4 play with the Dreamcast
Also while we r on the 4 player subject, also check out Marvel vs. Capcom 1 (it has a very fun 4 player mode!).

I'll second Outtrigger and Chu Chu as great 4 player games. Chu Chu especially.

Re: Must Have Dreamcast Games? Questions...
A lot of people really like Gigawing 2 since its a 4 player shmup. I personally fucking hate the game but its worth a shot since there aren't a whole lot of 4 player games to choose from. Btw, Sonic Adventure 2 is only 2 player to my knowledge just in case you didn't know
You might also want to check out Virtua Tennis. I saw that you really didn't care for Tennis 2k2 and while its quite similar I like Virtua Tennis more. I would also recommend Zombie Revenge even though its only 2 player.

Re: Must Have Dreamcast Games? Questions...
Thanks for all in the input!!!
Watched some youtube videos of outtrigger, I love 3PS by the way (Socom is my favorite of all time, please let me know if there is anything close to Socom on DC), so I like that about the game but worried about the accuary rate of the game. Looks like its a gernade launcher game, how important is accuracy with the guns? The more skill the better..
Sega Rally 2 - Thanks for the input, the demo on XBOX Live looks really nice.. Didn't know if the DC version was just as good. One of my favorite games on Sega Saturn.
Gigawing looks nice, kinda too old school for top scroller game...
Power Stone just is too much for, reminds me of Super Smash Brothers.
Sonic Adventures 2 - Thats what I figured, I am going to get this game ASAP. It had like a 9. something rating on IGN.
Im a homer fan of UT cuz it brought me to the game on the PC. Was the only game I played online for DC, along with Phantasy Star Online.
Sonic Shuffle - Thanks for the input, I was wondering why it didnt get a good rating. Probably wont be getting it.
Test Drive - Im going to have to try it out!
The games do not have to be 4 players, they can be 1-2 or even 1 like Gundam. Im looking for the best games that are a must have and the best 2/4 player games.
Virtua Tennis - Not a big tennis fan, only reason why.
Most interested Rankings
1. Sonic Adventure 2
2. Outrigger
3. Mobile Suit Gundam E.F.F VS Zeon & DX (Still looking for a gameplay opinion)
4. NFL Blitz 2000/1
5. Sydney Olympics (Still looking for a gameplay opinion) / Test Drive

Re: Must Have Dreamcast Games? Questions...
You really should try Power Stone 2. It's just amazing. Guaranteed to destroy friendships. You should also reconsider Virtua Tennis. Very intuitive. I actually hate sports games (and sports in general) and Virtua Tennis is the exception.
Dynamite Cop is also worth checking out, even though it's only 2 player.

What do you mean? The framerate in SR2 was fine in my opinion, even by high standards.rooster wrote:Skip Sega Rally 2, it also had a terrible framerate problem
