yes, i have seen blank GD-rs before if i am not mistaken. the hardware would be very rare and i think the only way to burn one is with a Sega development kit?

Well then why didn't sega just go with a CD laser along with GD discs to prevent unreliability?

A typical PC CD-ROM drive will not read a GD-ROM. Most Dreamcast games have some extra data on them exclusively for a PC drive to interpret.

You backup Dreamcast games via the Dreamcast itself. Options include ripping with a broadband adapter, serial port "coders cable", and the SD card modification.

wrong, well sort of. yes there is a way to trick a CD-rom drive into reading the GD-roms. this is the swap trick. the way most ppl would back up the games was with a DC coders cable or with a BBA. they could use the BBA to dump the game to a PC way faster so that is the method that i would use.

I posted this before, but no one seemed to notice. =p

I may as well mention my problems with SA 2. Two problems, both relating to sound. First, sometimes I get this horrible grinding noise. It just sounds awful, and happens whenever there is supposed to be an explosion or something of the sort. Second, is the sound effects. It doesn't know which to use! For example, I might jump and hear a *cha-ching! Obviously jumping isn't supposed to sound like a cash register. The disc is mint condition. Any ideas guys?

ah yes defective sonic adventure disks this brings back so many memories and is also the reason I play a backup version I remember my experience's well, it was the year 2001 (I didn't get a dreamcast till near the end ) after playing the demo version of sonic adventure via a dreamcast generator demo disk I litteraly begged my mom to get the game for me for christmas fast forward to christmas eve that year my mom let me open one present early I looked through the presents and saw a wrapped cd case and immediatly knew it was sonic aventure (my gut just told me it was) and sure enough it was the game I had wanted for a long time so naturally I decided to get started in playing the game and imagine my surprise when the game didn't boot up I asked my parents to help me get the game running and after opening and closing the lid for about an hour the game finally booted up and after that the game played like a regular game would and I had to do this every single time I wanted to play sonic adventure (I also killed my sisters dreamcast doing this) after that my copy got thrown out by acident so I started searching for another copy well I found it at a flea market last year and wouldn't you know it the game did the exact same damned thing as my first copy so now I don't look for retail copies of sonic adventure anymore the DCRES version is enough for me. the moral of this story is screw the retail versions of this game go download it if you want a functional version of sonic adventure
