SEGADRIVE, is SEGA planning NEW console with it?

Ok. Here's the dilly-o

Sega of Japan Is still fairly profitable. They're still making pretty good money off of games and arcade boards (I think... I'm not 100% sure)

They Are owned by Sega Sammy Holdings, A Pretty large Company.

Here are the reasons that Sega Has the capability of creating a New Console

1. Sega Still Makes Good games

Sega has a bad rep nowadays because of the "poor" quality game they produce. This is Sega of America, not Sega Japan.

For Example, In my opinion, Some of the good Sega Titles of this Generation are: Sonic Colors, Yakuza, Valkyria Chronicles, Border Break, Super Monkey Ball, Anything from Platinum Games, and Total War.

With the exception of "Total War", All of them are produced, or developed by Sega of JAPAN.

The Bad Marvel Movie tie-ins are all Sega of America's doings

2. Sega Has The Money

Contrary to popular belief that Sega Does not have the money to support a Console system, They in fact, do

Like I said Earlier, Sega is owned by Sega Sammy holdings. They are a pretty Big Company. Back in the Dreamcast era, i could understand why Sega Struggled to keep their system alive. But now, they are supported by a larger company and (in my opinion), If Sega pitched a Console, They would have enough money to support it.

3. Sega Has the Want for a Console

This one is pretty suggestive, but about everyone who owned a Sega console at one point or another would probably LOVE to own another one.

And I'm not only talking about the Dreamcast: I'm talking about the Genesis/Mega Drive, and the Saturn as well. It's the nostalgia factor of a Sega console that will drive them

4. Sega has learned from their past Mistakes

From what I see today, Sega Has Learned from their Past blunders.

and hopefully. they wont:
Release Stupid Add-ons (32x)
Release Consoles at an abrupt time (Saturn)
or
Release Consoles before the competition (Dreamcast)

5. Sega Is capable of releasing state-of-the-art Hardware

As seen from their Arcade boards, Sega is still able to release up to date hardware to power their software.



There are other factors That I'm not so sure about, such as:
Support From Manufacturing companies
Support From Graphics card and processor companies
Support From Other 3rd Party Video Game Companies

But I'm sure they will work out if the money is in the right place.

To make a Long story short, I Really think that Sega Is capable of making a video game console that can compete with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo.

They Just need to take the risk.

Their would be no progress.

Just some background information this “haneda” character which I think the members of this forum will agree is relevant to this discussion on whether the current “rumors” of the “SegaDrive/Neptune” system are credible and therefore real.

Haneda is a name used by an alleged contributor on the SegaLeaks page and is linked to the name Zachary Morris, who long term fans of Sega will probably recognize as the point of origin for a steady stream of “new Sega console” rumors over the 7 years or so, all of which have proven to be false.

If you go to either Yahoo! Or Google and type in a search string of “Zach Morris Sega” you will pull up a long list of results detailing some of Zach’s previous attempts at falsely claiming Sega was or is developing new consoles.

Haneda started to show up on Zach Morris’ previous site, SegaNewsWire after claiming he was banned from the Sega forums for revealing that he was a former member of the “skunkworks” team responsible for the design of the “blackbelt” system that nearly became the Dreamcast.
To date, this “haneda” character has provided not one iota of information to prove his claims that he used to work for Sega or that the information he is posting is true, this is despite repeated requests from posters at SegaLeaks for him to prove who he is, he’s not even revealed his real name or the job title he used to have at Sega, instead continuing to post under the "haneda" alias.
In my humble opinion this haneda character is nothing more than an alias used by the author of SegaLeaks in a poor attempt at giving the information that Zach Morris posts credibility, since Zach’s own credibility is thoroughly shot. If you look at the way Zach Morris and Haneda compose their posts, the wording on them is extremely close, (the over use of the word “shall” is a dead giveaway).

Regarding haneda’s banning at the Sega forums he was indeed banned from there, since he started posting that the information Zach Morris has is true. It seems that Sega considers Zach Morris to be a fraudster and a con artist (quite rightly so!) and bans anyone who is linked to him. The speculation page at the Sega forums was set up as as place where Sega fans could post their hypothetical ideas on what a new Sega console could be like, not spread fictional rumors as fact, like haneda and other banned member have done.

The patents and trademarks that MrSega linked to are undeniably real, however I believe that the author of SegaLeaks is merely taking these real trademarks, like SegaDrive and KidsPad and dressing them up in fictional technical specifications that he has made up, especially since almost every console spec he conjures up contains a PowerVR chip, this is despite the fact that Imagination Techologies have exclusively targeted the mobile/smartphone market since 2001 and have shown no interest in building graphics chipsets aimed at the desktop/console market.

In closing, it is my firm belief that these rumors, like the ones before them, are nothing more than fiction, created by someone intent of maliciously deceiving Sega fans in to believing that Sega is about to release a new console. If these rumors are true, why is no other site reporting on them?
I think it is fair to say that that only person who believes what haneda says is MrSega and I am sure he will come on here and refute everything I have just said. I have no comment on what he says other than he is entitled to his opinion, however without any cast iron proof that these systems exist they will remain an interesting, if fictional, story.

After reading the pdf file and browsing over it. it seems they are trying to make put "game systems" and play online with other players in other arcades in the same region. But I'm not totally sure.

Stu is right on one thing, how come Haneda cant verify that he worked for sega or at least name his job. I know companies have employees sign documents saying they cant release information. But Haneda hasnt worked for them in like 10 years. And I really doubt sega is monitoring this site at all and could care less.

It would seem that Sega2k is probably correct, it seems to be a patented system to allow network play between console players and players in the arcade, I'm not sure but am willing to speculate that the dreamcast symbol simply represents a generic console, rather than any particular console specifically.
