Re: dreamcast component out?

I just got it today! I set it up straightaway.

For both example, video render settings are the following:
MP4 container, h.264 codec, 13 megabytes bitrate. 480p.

Heres a video with COMPOSITE. Recording with hauppauge hd pvr, at 50 hertz (25 fps).

Heres a video with component. As i said, setup is the following:

Dreamcast -> VGA box -> VGA to component converter -> HD PVR
Recording at 60 hertz, 29,9 period fps.

I have NO CLUE what those green squares are, so dont bother asking. Of course it has something to due with the converter..
Blue screen in the middle of the video is because i was switching resolutions on the converter. Was trying 720p for the heck of it, but of course, it gives a worse picture. So i went back to 480p. I know about the lack of brightness on the video. For some reason, its perfectly fine on my tv (btw i dont even see those green squares on my tv) so i guess my hd pvr doesnt like this converter. Personally i find a SLIGHT picture improve. Its hard to appreciate on this video, because like i just said, picture is different on the video than on my tv.. But i DO see a difference between VGA and component. Was it worth it? No, but im a nerd. So i had to try it out.

Bad picture on 720p is due only when switching. But when recording at 720p from the beginning, the quality is AMAZING.

BEHOLD PSO ON DREAMCAST ON HD (without green squares on the left and fixed brightness!!):

So you went from your vga box to a vga -> scart cable, then converter box -> component cable? Or did you do the scart dreamcast cable strait to the adapter?

No.. Theres no scart involved. I said it, but again setup is:

Dreamcast -> VGA box -> (vga cable) -> VGA to Component converter (component cable) -> HD PVR

maybe an hdmi converter may have worked better on the recording. I don't think you PVR has hdmi input I assume.

No it doesnt.. And it wouldnt be any better because the only difference aside that HDMI includes sound, is that its digital instead of analogue.. And considering the source signal is VGA, which is analogue.. It does not matter at all..

Heres some speed devils footage at 720p.

ALL capture card/converters have an output with non processed image that have no delay.. Every good one has that at least.

So your definatly not using a vga to component "adapter" like these;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ATI-VGA-Component-H ... 4cf193af05
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-Component-/1303 ... 1e5a2aa17d

But a legit "converter" box like these;
http://cgi.ebay.com/Key-Digital-VGA-Com ... 20b40c7edb
or
http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-Component-Ypbpr ... 1c1469550d

?

Any specific make/model your using?

edit; lol @ speed devils, that was always my car of choice. The caddi-knockoff was fun, but I used that gangstamobile till the end of the game.
