ALIEXPRESS
Nominated as aliexpress.com. Headquartered in China.
"AliExpress is a business-to-consumer e-commerce platform that connects China-based
sellers with buyers around the world. Sellers on AliExpress provide wholesale offerings and order
fulfillment services for dropshipping retailers that do not maintain their own inventory.
AliExpress is owned by Alibaba and shares certain anti-counterfeiting tools and systems with
other Alibaba platforms. As a whole, Alibaba is known for having some of the best anti-counterfeiting
processes and systems in the e-commerce industry, having much-improved
communication with right holders, including micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises
(MSMEs), on their IP protection and enforcement issues, and for providing significant support for
offline investigations and enforcement actions against the companies that manufacture and
distribute counterfeit goods.
Although these efforts are laudable, this year, right holders have
noted a significant increase in counterfeit goods being offered for sale on AliExpress, including
goods that are blatantly advertised as counterfeit and goods that are falsely advertised as
genuine. Right holders also report a vast increase in the number of sellers offering counterfeit
goods. Alibaba notes that AliExpress sellers must provide a business license in order to sell on
the platform, but these sellers apparently are not sufficiently vetted to ensure that they will not
be selling counterfeit goods. Another key concern of right holders is that known sellers of
counterfeit goods on AliExpress remain prevalent, purportedly due in part to the lenient seller
penalty system and a removal process that does not deter sellers from continuing to offer
counterfeit goods."

There are also legitimate sellers...What a load of BS. AliExpress is my go to for spare console parts, I hope Australia won't block the service.

So does this mean we will no longer be able to purchase goods from there? Or they are just "flagged" as someplace you should deal with but still up to the citizen?

They didn't say there wasn't - just that counterfeit goods are knowingly being sold on the website, with complaints from the rights holders.mkandersson1082 wrote:There are also legitimate sellers...What a load of BS. I bought my Dreamcast SD Card Reader on Aliexpress and it went without a hitch (except for the long ship time, which I expected). That's my only purchase experience.

The chance of AliExpress being blacklisted is 0.00%.Anthony817 wrote:So does this mean we will no longer be able to purchase goods from there? Or they are just "flagged" as someplace you should deal with but still up to the citizen?
I might add, eBay and others have the same counterfeiting issues, i.e. flash memory.

Let's hope you're right and that they don't blacklist it, it's a great place to pickup wholesale items also. I just know how the Western world views China so nothing would surprise me.MoeFoh wrote:They didn't say there wasn't - just that counterfeit goods are knowingly being sold on the website, with complaints from the rights holders.mkandersson1082 wrote:There are also legitimate sellers...What a load of BS. The Western World views China in many lights. First you have the amazing multiple thousands of years of history which we admire. and the cute Chinese women as well most Western guys I know find them attractive. Then you have the common folk who we look at just as we look at any other common folk. Not responsible for what their shit government does. Americans in particular love cheap Chinese goods. We are each others largest trading partners for a reason. There is some very quality stuff coming from out of China, but then again, it is like a 2 tier system. Some is cheap and worthless that breaks easily, and other stuff they make is very good. So you do get what you pay for.

True enough. I should've been more specific, I do mean the world governments and how they paint China's image, which I suppose is also applicable to Russia.Anthony817 wrote:The Western World views China in many lights. Protip: Go to the share button on Youtube video page, then copy it and come back here, press the Youtubenew button and then place the link you already copied into middle of it.
But yeah I like him, his is not for either side, he is admittedly a liberal, but a middle liberal. So he gets a pass in my book. Look, I hate speaking politics in my hobby communities, but dammit centralist people like me who do believe in gay marriage, freedom of religion and freedom to smoke pot, I would be called far right. Which is bullshit. I am from Texas, a Southern state with nigh nearly 30 million folks and the 2nd largest by population the US, when you are speaking to somebody 1/8th of the country is from there. So most of the people you speak to come from California and Texas.
Anyways, I have to say I am conservative when I am really libertarian which is somebody more like a republican with liberal ideas as I can simplify it for a person from Europe. Basically a person against Political Correctness and cancel culture who believes people should have way more freedoms. Comedy is getting ruined because people want to dictate what should be funny. Nah I am not about that.
Back to topic, yeah, America is not perfect, I know this. But I think that other countries like China and Russia have so much more potential if they just changes their tune, US would drop sanctions if they allowed more freedom of speech and the people there could really thrive. I have friends from all over the world, China, Malaysia, Philippines, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, African Ivory Coast and obviously way more over in the UK, Western Europe, Australia and New Zeland etc. So honestly, I love people from every nation on this earth. We are all friends. Look at the Dreamcast community, even when major international crisis are going on, people from opposing nations just continue to speak to each other amicably as we always have done. Like I said, common folks have common friends and interests. We are all brothers and sisters here, we have to understand it and embrace it. We are all the same.
