Please can someone help with a strange issue I’m experiencing for PSOv2 on Dreamcast via BBA adapter.
Setup:
- PAL Dreamcast with GDEMU loading Ives pack image
- BBA adapter connection to UK broadband (Sky)
- DHCP with 138.197.20.130 as the primary DNS
Im able to view the servers and join ships and even create a join a room. However whenever I go to join/create a quest the console crashes. Im at a loss to explain why.
I was originally experiencing issues with level 0/200 corrupt character appearing when joining ships but I’ve resolved that by setting my routers MTU to 1400.
I’ve successfully managed to join quests on the SCHTHACK server using the same setup. And I’ve been able to join Syiverant quests using a different mobile broadband tethering setup.
Also tried,
* Custom local DNS Server redirecting to 138.197.20.130 and 67.222.144.120
* Original PSOv2 PAL GDRom version
* Internet sharing from MacOS
* Other third party DNS settings
In my opinion must be an issue with my ISP or router. Any suggestions?

Re: Console crash when joining PSO quests

Could it be DNS/Hop related?

Changing the MTU on your router to 1400 is the only thing I know of that fixes crashes when loading quests. If using a hotspot works, I guess that's your only option, other than replacing your router. It seems PSO hates that model, or possibly your ISP. The network stack in DC is hot garbage.

Thanks I've tried MTU and that did help with character corruption issues but the joining quests issue still persists.
I will try another ISP today so hopefully that will solve it once and for all

So Vodaphone UK worked flawlessly even though MTU couldn't be modified. Perhaps time to switch ISP
