Hi all
I've just got the Dreampi set up and everything is working fine - to a point. There's nothing wrong with the modem (two green lights) and I'm managing to connect to games fine - tried Quake 3 and ChuChu Rocket. But on both, I get to the point of being online but the servers can't be reached. On Q3 it just says "Can't access Master Server" or something along those lines and on CCR it just gets stuck on connecting to server.
Any thoughts? I've got the Pi plugged in to a Wifi-mesh cube, so it's not directly in to my router. Could be something to do with my mesh set up having different IP address to my initial router?
Anyway, any help gratefully received and sorry if these questions come up all the time.

Re: I know you've probably heard this a million times but...
I'm not an expert, but here is a small list of simple thing you should make sure are working so we can know a little more about the problem:
- Can you connect to the internet ussing an internet browser?
- On Q3: can you connect to a server directly by entering an IP? (here is the list of servers with IPs https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/ap ... e/q3master)
I do NOT recommend you to use chuchu as a way to test you connection since it's a game that needs DMZ to run most of the times (you should be able to get to the lobby anyway, but it's not ideal). If you are gonna try your connection ussing games I recommend Q3 and PSO since are one of the most stables and simple use.

Re: I know you've probably heard this a million times but...
Well, I know the most popular way is to have both primary and secondary DNS set to 0.0.0.0 although that never worked for me. I currently use 46.101.91.123 for my primary DNS and 8.8.8.8 for my secondary DNS. I connect every time and I get the master list every time in Quake3 Arena. You could compromise by changing the secondary to 8.8.8.8 to see if that helps first. If not, you could try my setup. Be sure to save your settings. I recommend using Q3 to do these changes being you will the results quickly.

Re: I know you've probably heard this a million times but...
Thanks both for the really helpful replies. I have tried connecting to the individual servers on the list but with no success. I haven't yet tried a browser properly. I only have Dreamkey 1.5, and I couldn't quite get it to work because it was using my log in details from 20 years ago. I managed to whipe them but couldn't find the right setting to re register. I might just find/burn 3.0 to see if that works.
I thought quake would be a bit easier and it definitely seemed to be the case, up until the point of finding the servers.
Will try a browser again and failing that try the DNS details you suggest Bob. Fingers crossed - really want this to work.

This could be a couple different things. Check the Troubleshooting section of Dreamcast Live under "Other Games / Multiple Games > I can dial a connection but can’t connect to any game servers.".

Re: I know you've probably heard this a million times but...
Thanks again for your feedback all. I played around with my router a bit and some of the settings and it works fine now. I managed to get Dreamkey 1.5 going and then Q3 Arena was hunky dory after that. I can only think that the DMZ settings didn't kick in straight away or something similar. Either way, it's working.
Just out of interest, do you run CDIs for your games or use original copies?

Re: I know you've probably heard this a million times but...
Not all current online games were released but was leaked in the last few years. Examples are PBA Tour Bowling 2001 and Internet Game Pack. It is like getting brand new Dreamcast games. Only us current online gamers have had this honor.
