I was going from the announcer voice, the character selection screen, and generally the game engine similarity. Gameplay-wise it is not super similar to Crazy Taxi for sure, anybody can see that hehe.

This looks like is based in Sega GT. The assets look the same, same engine sounds, same lighting effects... The same physics glitch (sometimes tires going underground). It is a fun game. Thank you Megavolt85

Thank you for the information Anthony!
I guess one can hope that the renewed interest in Atomiswave may finally bring some of these prototypes out to the public. Fingers crossed!

Somebody else mentioned that on some YouTube videos of the game. It made me wonder if they had the same file formats and if we could swap the models out for real cars from that game. However, these Atomiswave games don't seem modder friendly.

This makes me think that Sega was providing Dreamcast game engines to Sammy developers before the merger.

Exactly why I was going to post, this game is running on the Sega GT engine I am sure, as you mentioned, sound, lightning and physics behave very similar, even I ported the 60 fps hack from Sega GT since it uses the same values, I don't think this games squeezes the potential of the console like Sega GT.

For a game running on the same engine it ended up looking worse than a game that was considerably older.
