It's what i tried to do.
Your patch cuts the encounter rate in half? Does it apply everywhere in the game?

If you check the part that refers to 8C4ECCE4, you will find several references to it.
Among them, find the part where the value of 8C4ECCE4 is used as a condition for branching.
Then you will find that the value to be compared in the branch is the value of 8C0DAA5A.
pomegd states that the encounter value is located multiple times in the files.
Perhaps my english is top poor.
But i patch the adress he gave me in order to reduce the encounter rate by 2 every where.
If it's good, i'll build a release with the complete avoid patch pressing buttons he cleverly built.

No, your English is good. I'm just trying to figure out what the new value is. What did the value start out as and what does reducing it by 2 now equal?
For example, was the encounter rate 10 and you decreased it by 2 making it 8?
Is there any mod for the DC version that lowers the encounter rates (and tweaks the EXP gain to compensate)? And if not, can I request one? It seems there's mods that patch the game in PAL to 60hz, and others that fully retranslate/undub the game, so I imagine it shouldn't be too unfeasible, but idk. It'd go a long way in making a version of the game I'd be down with replaying, and recommending to others.
encounter value(increased by walking)
8C4ECCE4 xxxx
default threshold
8C0DAA5A 01E0
If the value of the encounters exceeds the threshold value, the fight is randomly shifted to a battle.
You can change the encounter rate by changing the threshold value.
The "rate" is here @pomegd explain everything thanks to him.
Please try this version and tell me if there is a difference, i'm not at home and no stuff :
I find here a patch version if someone want to try : https://mega.nz/file/9vJnXaQb#P9AJSARDS ... vJ97jaw89k
About your last post :
There is only one encounter threshold ?
Could you tell me how you have find it please ?
Else thank you very much
I've tried this and works great so far! I'm at the part in the beginning at Sailor's Island and it's been so nice exploring with way fewer interruptions. Is this file just the first disc or the whole game?
I played (and loved) this game back in the day, but the ridiculously high random battle rate (+my current self having less time/patience) has kept me...
