Hi all.

I'm a big fan of Vanishing Point. It's basically all I kept my Dreamcast for

I return to it every year or so to try to finish it.

Here's where I am right now:
Perhaps if I complete all reverse tracks I'll get the final movie?

My question is: what do I have to do I unlock those final reverse tracks?

It's been so long now I have no idea how I unlocked the first 6!

Any help appreciated.

Hi Matt, I noticed you posted the same topic on my old review My save file is 100% and I think you need to complete EVERYTHING (all reverse tracks, CGW rally etc).

What do I need to do next? How do I unlock the final reverse tracks?

The screen above shows that I've unlocked 6 out of 13 reverse tracks. How do I unlock the rest?

I've tried doing specific single races and time trials but nothing unlocked.

It may have something to do with the Lotus Elise Challenge; I'll check it our later on today (at work at present - 6am start! )

I played the game again and can't find anything definitive. What I may do is download a partially completed save file to see if I can work it out.

However did you place 1st on everything during the CGW Rally/Single Race modes as they also unlocks tracks?

Sorry for the vagueness of my reply; it's been over two years since I played this game in-depth.

Grabbed a semi-completed save file this evening. The key lies in Single Race mode - you must place 1st in every race on the forward tracks to unlock all the remaining reverse tracks. Easiest thing is do the 2 lap race on each.

So far I've not had any luck in Single Race mode. I finished first in a handful of races with standard cars and nothing else was unlocked.

According to my save game I have already got first in all forward tracks (2 lap, but not 3 lap). Looking in the records section of the menu.

Q1A: If I was to count the 6/13 reverse tracks I apparently have already unlocked which menu should I be looking at?
Q1B: if I'm looking to see if I've achieved first place in the required races where should I be looking?

Q2A: Would it help if I uploaded my save for you to have a look at?
Q2B: If so, my question is what software do I use to get the copy of my save off my Nexus 4meg? I have an old PC and the parallel cable so it *should* just be a software thing.

Otherwise I'm happy to send you a VMU containing a copy of my save game.

Hi Matt, sorry I haven't been able to reply sooner.

Q1A: I'll have to check this in more detail.
Q1B: In Single Race Mode, select car, course and lap number and then you should see which directions are available: Forward, Reverse, Mirror and Mirror Reverse. If Reverse is greyed out you need to get 1st place on that Forward course to unlock it. Once unlocked it should then show on the Extras -> Game Statistics screen.

Q2A: You are welcome to upload your save for me to look at
Q2B: The Nexus card transfer method is very hit and miss; I was never able to get mine to work even with an old Windows 98 PC. The software you need is called DC Link and you can get a copy here: http://robertdalesmith.com/dcvmuicons/tools.htm.

Failing that, if you can get or already have your Dreamcast online you can email the save to me at [email protected]. Let me know which browser you use if decide to do this.

No problem. I've already waited 14 years to finish this game, so I can wait a little more!

I'm pretty sure I've done your steps and the tracks don't unlock. But I'll try again carefully.

If not, I'll look into the Nexus and/or getting my Dreamcast back online.

It'll take me a week or two I'd imagine.
