A wild update appears.
Just saw this out of nowhere. Seems someone has still been working on this . Looks quite impressive, though I'm sceptical if this is still even running on DC anymore. Hopefully someone can get an interview to find out what the heck happened and future plans.

Most likely, the fact that that game "Slave" never got released doesn't give high hopes for this either. Radio silence is never a good thing. But I am curious to know if what I am seeing is running on a DC or not.

Still my most anticipated Dreamcast homebrew/indie game over the past 15 years I have even beta tested for Corbin back in the day when they were internally testing the game. I had a PC only test build that was heavily W.I.P. but this was around 2010 or so when I tested. So not even the same game by this point. It was still heavily influenced by Blood when I was testing. And before you ask, no I do not have the alpha test build for PC, it is long gone. I would be happy to answer any questions I could but my memory is blurry and I can not discuss or disclose certain things but could try my best.

I was very excited about this game for a long time, but at this point I don't believe a DC build exists. Multiple people have reached out to the dev (including myself) inquiring if the game is still for DC and are met with silence. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be proven wrong and see the game launch in DC. But I have this in the same category as Sl@ve in my mind at this point.

On their Facebook Page they have posted an amazing video with the game running.

The engine looks an improved version of the Half Life engine, if this is running on DC it will be one of the better looking games for sure.

Fun fact: The engine supports Doom 3 and Half Life model formats.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/edge2/

As a continuation of the EDGE Project, hyper3DGE gives the end-user more power from the most advanced alternative DOOM engine - combined with portability to most systems, including game consoles.

Features:
  • Uncapped OpenGL 2.0 rendering with support for Quake 2, Quake 3, DOOM 3, and Half-Life Models.
Splitscreen local networking for cooperative, deathmatch, and botmatch play.
Sega Dreamcast portability (currently under /source).
Powerful DDF, RTS, and COAL scripting to make your Doom mods come to life.
Now Supports Heretic, Chex Quest, and Hacx.
Advanced rendering effects, such as normal maps and dynamic shadows
Custom Level Editing program, 3DGE Builder, tailored specifically for 3DGE!

So it can absolutely do some amazing things Useing a low powered yet versatile engine and expanding the capabilities just enough to really push the Dreamcast graphically for what is a fork of a 30 year engine.
