Dreamcast R48G lens - is this lens now dead?

Hi all. I'm ordering an R48G lens for my Dreamcast but I am concerned that the TaoBao agent I'm getting it from may have already damaged it. I have a few pictures. What is concerning me is the picture with the lens facing down, sheesh!
so would it be considered dead now or should it be ok? Thanks.

Is that a picture of the actual lens you are receiving?
I wouldn't be too concerned with them placing it upside down as long as they were careful. What concerns me is that the lens looks a little dirty and used like it was salvaged from a junked piece of electronics.
Also, the protection point has already been removed, further making me believe that it's a used lens. With that point removed, a static discharge from someone handling the laser could fry the laser diode.
