ok let me see.... so the spec I bought was £370, then the card was £109 and the PSU was £47.99.... £527? then I still had to put windows and office on the machine... but still thats really not bad, you could buy a machine from Dell with a similar spec but it wouldn't come with a brilliant card out of the box and you would spend maybe a grand for an i5?
check out my performance vid, I know its filmed poorly but you can see that both games are running pretty much stutter free on the highest settings.. to my eyes I didn't see any frame loss but the camera I used seems to have been unable to translate it perfectly

I play with the settings of crysis at around the 10.23 mark

To run Crysis on high settings you need atleast a Radeon 6870 or GTX 560.elmagicochrisg wrote:So how much did it cost to be able to play Crysis on high specs then?...
Meaning, how much extra for the graphics card I guess...

yeah that's why I'm glad I got one thanks to you Norton! did you know I wanted to play Crysis as well when you suggested that model or was it just a coincidence?

I suggested it because I knew it would be sufficient for new games at high settings, and the price/performance ratio is hard to beat.DCUltrapro wrote:yeah that's why I'm glad I got one thanks to you Norton! did you know I wanted to play Crysis as well when you suggested that model or was it just a coincidence?

cool, well yeah it works a damn treat! can't wait for PSO2, maybe we can do a DCTalk clan or something or is that considered a bit done/sad lately? some kind of DCTalk team would be awesome though. I assume its still 4 player co-op online? I wonder if there will be an offline mode for you to buff your character

Probably no offline as the characters are saved server-side.DCUltrapro wrote:cool, well yeah it works a damn treat! can't wait for PSO2, maybe we can do a DCTalk clan or something or is that considered a bit done/sad lately? some kind of DCTalk team would be awesome though. yeah, shame, still no biggie, I'm still getting it! Can't wait, I wonder what the weapon drops will be like and I'm a little concerned about the micro-transactions, I don't mind buying a retail copy of the game, is it really a profitable thing to give it away free and just get people to buy extras etc?

Personally I would rather just pay a flat fee for the game instead of racking up bills buying items.DCUltrapro wrote:yeah, shame, still no biggie, I'm still getting it! Re: Phantasy Star Online 2 releasing soon... any takers?
yeah, I understand the preference to that over micro stuff, however if I had my choice it'd be single retail sale price with no further fees, but I know that can't happen. I wouldn't mind paying 10-20 quid a year as its just one game but they can't justify charging $9.99 a month like WOW (and WOW can't justify it either!) I pay £40 a YEAR for xbox live and can play about 20/25 games online.
still I guess there's no point worrying until it comes out, and then if none of us like the payment plan we don't have to take it up I guess
