You guys know what i'm talking about right! Those pesky game save files that are colored in RED instead of the standard BLUE when viewing them on the DC's File Management System. I hate them! They are such a pain because they cannot me copied on to another memory card through the consoles UI and instead must be tricked to successfully copying onto another memory unit! Known Culprits...
Project Justice
Virtual On: OT
Soul Calibur
Are there other titles that have save files with copy protection?
Please share your thoughts and info regarding this topic

How about the "VMU tool", dont that work?
PSO has a copy protecting file, heres a little guide!
1:Start a new char with the same serials as your main! (on new vmu)
2: Boot up your old charecter from the old memory card
3: Pull out the memory card when your in the game
4: Switch to your new memory card before pressing anything
5: Press A button until the game exsepts the vmu (might take 20 seconds)
6: Pray to whatever source you may find strenght in

I need to tell you all a related sad story that happened to me.
I played my friend's copy of FZero for gamecube a lot with him, and after hours and hours of playing we pretty much unlocked everything. Months later, I got my own copy, and since my friend was now on the other side of the country, I spent some time unlocking things on my own mem card - I put in a lot of time and unlocked most things, but didn't have some of the really hard stuff to get. Then I was going to visit my friend, so I though "I'll just bring my mem card, and transfer his save!" I'm at his place, I delete my file from my card first (mistake lol), then I go to copy his in the mem card bios menu. IT DOESN'T COPY! I thought, "well no matter, I'll just do like the Soul Calibur trick and swap in the mem card during gameplay and trick it!"
We start the game, start a race, and I swap in the card. After the race when it would autosave, the game suddenly stops and a graphic pops up saying "This is the incorrect memory card, please insert original card"
So basically, there was no simple way I knew of to transfer the save from his card to mine, and I had just deleted my data that I had spent hours unlocking stuff on... I basically never played FZero again after that XD

Just want to say I fucking loved F-Zero. a friend on mine would play with me nonstop in highschool until one of us would get too drunk to continue. The gamecube despite being a really bland console overall was my first introduction to the Sonic Adventure series. We would play SA2 battle all the time and it was one of my main reasons for getting a Dreamcast so without a gamecube I probably wouldn't be here right now, even though I never play gamecube anymore
ahhh i got on a nostalgia trip there but I just wanted to add that it makes perfect sense to me why PSO would have copy protection but why in the hell would F-Zero

Oh my god, F-Zero GX is incredible.
But back on topic. What I like to do is put 2 memory cards in the controller upon booting up: the one with the file and the one I'd like the file to be on. You start the game, load up your save, and then go to the options menu and save onto the new VMU. Works with SC, not sure about other games.
