I dunno if this is true or not but I guess back in September '10 a new PSO game was announced in Tokyo. I never heard about this before. Supposed to be a direct sequel to our beloved DC PSO. Well here's a link on it.

It's definitely true. I remember that some of the major sites had posted the logo from the announcement. I hadn't seen any updates from it since then. It's good to see that it's coming along well enough to have screenshots and videos. Hopefully this goes to more than PC, I'd imagine it's still a year or so off and my computer isn't getting any newer. The graphics don't look too heavy, but, you never know.

and it really doesn't matter that it has nothing to do with dc pso, its a sequel after all, and with this kinda game its the formula that counts imo

Yeah, its cool to see another PSO title. I just don't see it as a "true" sequel. The true sequel will be released when SEGA launches another console.

How was the Universe series? I never played any of them, but my friend was a way bigger PSO player than myself and he grabbed Universe day one and was pretty disappointed.

well it's a LOT different. However, it's got a lot that is the same too. Honestly, I had fun playing it. Episode one actually has a good story mode for offline. Which is good since SEGA just shut down the PS2/PC servers of PSU. You can still play online with regular updates on XBOX 360 of course. It has a different atmosphere but at the core of it, it's the same thing really. I still enjoy it. All the old school fans hate it, but that's just because it's not 10 years old.

Yeah universe was dissapointing but they did improve it with ambition of the illuminus.
Plus portable 2 is the best. I could say its as great as the original
