So I popped a GDEMU in my console a couple of months ago, and a mate of mine did me an SD card with the games and openmenu on it as well

Been working absolutely fine so far but these evening I reformatted my VMU (I recently bought it from CEX and it was full of stuff I didn’t want on there) and since I did that - my Dreamcast will boot up the start up menu but then just a blank screen after that

It still says openmenu on the vmu after the DC boot screen but like I said - a blank screen

Anyone know what’s happened or why it seems to have stopped working?

OpenMenu stores some settings on your VMU. So it's possible that the reformat is incomplete and causing problems loading. Given that you've tried booting with no VMU though it is more likely something else. Some possibilities:

• the SD Card is bad - either the OpenMenu data is corrupted or the entire SD Card is broken
• there's a problem with your GDemu

To check each of these possibilities

• Try loading a game from the SD Card directly (see instructions below)
• If you have the hardware to do so, make a new SD Card
• Try reseating the GDemu

To load a game from the SD Card directly:

1. remove the SD Card (this step is unnecessary if your console is set to load the original Sega-provided menu before starting a game)
2. start the console
3. wait for the main menu to load
4. insert the SD Card
5. press the button on your GDemu (each press will change to the next game on the SD Card - OpenMenu is just the first "game" on the card)
6. the disc should show in the main menu and you should be able to start the game

You can use GDMenuCardManager to make a new SD card pretty easily. You don't need to add any games to it to test the loading of OpenMenu or gdMenu. The only things you do need are a computer with an SD card reader and another SD card.

Reseating means removing and re-inserting the GDemu. This would correct any issues with it coming loose etc. Make sure to discharge your own static electricity before opening the case (touch something metal)
