Oh, then I guess I will have to get a copy of Windows 98 then, I will try this one first and see if it is successful.

The computer I am going to use for this isn't being used for anything else, I was going to run a PC-DC server on it and host some other servers as well.

You can use ME too. Same thing but has upgraded driver support and built in flash drive support.

Oh, I thought ME was just the home edition of Windows 98 Second Edition.

Thank you.

Yeah it was basically a joke of an operating system. Within a year XP came out but is the best option for PC-DC server because of driver support.

Alright, so ME it is!

Hopefully by tomorrow I can go to DollarGeneral and pick up a pack of cds, although I don't think there of high quality because of the price and brand "TDK"

I hope it works on XP though, the pc I am using for the server is a Dell Dimension 4550 and reinstalling windows is a pain because of the lack of drivers, it would be all right if it had an Ethernet driver but it doesn't even have that so I have to download it from another computer and put it on a flash drive.

Thank you.

I use crap Maxwell. Its just not good on your laser long term. Don't worry about it too much.

I have a 4550. Its great. It comes with xp reinstall disc though so you could dualboot if you wanted to.

Microsoft ME (Millennium Edition) was to be the next step for Win98 users. Win 2k was to be the more "power user" version, but ME was a nothing more than "beta-ware". If ME lived, XP Home Edition would have had a different name and XP Pro would have just been "XP".

Good luck with the DC-PC server project.

Alright, my attempt at windows xp failed, but from other online sources I can clear things up about this guide:

When it talks about <h10>s it is a binary value not a string
Any time you edit you edit your registry, you must restart for these changes to take effect

Good luck with your other attempt!
