Well, shit! I didn't think anyone would care about this Chapter since it isn't current! I'm kind of touched.
A surprise to tide our fans over before the release of AiGD23! A collection of unused and clipped footage spanning from immediately after Chapter 20 to present.

Please support our Kickstarter this summer! We have truly been pouring our hearts and souls into delivering to you a "next-gen" 2D RPG experience.

Lost Chapter 2 is a collection of previously unreleased footage spanning from just after Chapter 20 to present day.

The team has been hard at work with working on Chapter 23... But we have also been drowning in school work, as it's midterm time. We are hoping this video will buy us some extra time.

We have a lot of really, really cool stuff to show off in Chapter 23, so it will be well worth the wait!

Edit: Here's a tiny sampler of our next area, the DC community is the only community to see this:

Is that what the Loren countryside you guys posted a sketch of on Facebook is going to look like? And about the picture, is it going to be like ES's Route 1 or the forest outside of the starting town near the beginning of Secrets of Mana (whatever it's called)?

That's exactly what this environment is, haha. Nice.

If I had to draw an analogy, yes, Route 1 would be a very good one. It was also inspired artistically by Chrono Trigger's "Guardia Forest."

AiGD23 just released!
Description wrote:Team ES is back with level design, pixel art, music, dynamic lights, particles, and spell effects! We have all been extremely busy with the project over the last few weeks, and we're happy to bring an update from all ends of the spectrum: art, code, and music.

Things are getting very serious for us as we work towards our summer Kickstarter campaign. We have several surprises up our sleeves for you guys in the coming weeks, and we very much appreciate all of the community support and publicity we have been receiving during these critical times. Please help spread the word!

Damn, I gotta check this subforum more often. I've got two whole youtube videos to watch!
Also that leaked pixel art you posted (the DC-community exclusive one) looks beautiful. You have succeeded in channelling Crono Trigger, i think!

Wow, you guys are really pumping these videos out lately. Are characters going to have diagonal animations? And it looks like battles will play like a solo-Secrets of Mana sort of thing?

We really aren't certain whether or not there will be diagonal animations. If there are, they will almost certainly not be in the Dreamcast, as we are already pressed for VRAM.

The combat system was definitely influenced by Secret of Mana, but we're going for something much more action-oriented than that. We want the fluidity of an action game with the depth of an RPG.

I'm no programmer and I don't know if this is what you guys were already thinking, but what about diagonals just for the playable character? I'm wondering because you guys said it'd support the analog stick, so if there were no diagonal animations, would it be like Eldorado Gate where if you move say down and to the right, the animation will look like they're going straight right, even though they're moving diagonally down-right? Or if you moved the analog stick down-right, would the game just pick either straight down, or straight right?

Also, it's cool that the thread got onto the front page.
