So you should be feeling pretty foolish now especially for you pathetic attempt to troll me without any thing to back up why I'm wrong. I guess Sony's making a Supercomputer for interface data and super wireless internet networks.

Hmm let's see .. Who do I trust?

An industry insider magazine aimed at developers, or a uniformed fan who relies on patents.

Decisions ... Decisions!

Where's the evidence? Where's the proof to back up thier claims? Where's the rumored specs? Where's the rumored games? where's the patents? leaked evidence?

They don't have any. Considering the fact that both PS1 & PS2's trademarks were filed 3 years before the consoles were released & PS3 dates back to 1999. There is no Sony PS4 trademark.

This arugment is over. First warning, don't test me.

*Feedback*.

Seriously, once again here are Sony's latest trademarks:

http://www.trademarkia.com/playstation-85093015.html (For ALL Playstation brands as well as the mark for Playstation R&D) If it doesn't get renewed in 3 months, this means Sony has not started development on a PS3 successor.

http://www.trademarkia.com/near-85377446.html

So Sony is going to start selling a PS3 based arcade board & may infact do 3rd party amusment IPs?

Also here's definetive proof that Playstation 3 started development & concepting WAY back in 1999!

Its quite possible they dont feel the need to do any patenting for ps4 becuz of all the patenting they have around the playstation brand period...they quite possibly are well under way and arent patenting anything to prevent any leaks...

If a PS4 is in the works, Sega shouldn't even think about returning with new hardware. Since about fall of 1995, Sony has pwned Sega every way imaginable and even without a PS4, I reckon most late adapting customers would feel more at ease purchasing the $249 PS3 than anything from Sega who are really a 90s phenomenom and not much more. After SegaCd, 32X, Saturn and Dreamcast were abandoned, consumer confidence in Sega isn't exactly very high.

The Japanese may pump a few quarters at an arcade but I doubt they would invest hundreds of dollars on a Sega system ever again. Virtua Fighter doesn't have the type of mass appeal over there it had in 1994 and that was the only game in Japan that garnered a mass mainstream following.

In America, 32X and SegaCD are among the ten worst consoles in history compiled by many many Youtubers. Being that Sega's failures with Saturn and Dreamcast are still being documented on the internet to this day, it will be nearly impossible for gamers to get the bad taste out of their mouths any time soon.

The logic does not match Sony's history. Sony has alawys been pretty open to the gaming eworld about internal projects. There was info on the existance of PS3 as early as 2001 & EVERY single Playstation brand console trademark has always been
filed several years before it launched while its still in development, the fact that Playstation 4 mark DOES NOT exist is proof that there is no such thing.
Patents MUST always be filed. You cannot sell a console without a patent regaurdless of brand name.

If history has shown anything, customers would rather purchase the current Sony system than purchase a powerful new one from Sega. I remember in 2000, seeing friends go with PS1s when they knew the Dreamcast was more powerul. Many also chose not to buy anything for the holidays than purchase a Sega Dreamcast, waiting for more PS2s in 2001. Success breeds more success.

Unless Sega has groundbreaking hardware and absolute must-have titles, a new system would be on the market for 1 year and sell around 2 million worldwide. I'd buy one, but I have little faith in the majority of gamers who now see Sega as a joke and a has-been.

I think, as far as the US and EU markets go, that would be a pretty fair assessment of the chances Sega has with a new console.

I think if they were to launch one in Japan only then it might find more success as Sega seems to have a better reputation with the Japanese gamer, than with gamers in the West where Sega's name as a console manufacturer is a joke.
One of the issues I see is that some of the gamers playing games today probably won't remember Sega as a console manufacturer and have no loyalty to the brand, the ones that do will remember the debacles with the 32X and Saturn, ending with the Dreamcast finally being dropped, neither is too conducive to building a loyal following for a new entrant up against 3 well financed, successful manufacturers.
People will say that Sega does not have the staying power and does not support it's machines for the long term, contrast that with Sony where the PSOne was marketed for 12 years and the PS2 is still going today after almost 11 years.

Its been incredible how long Sony has kept the PS2 alive. And that's why PS4 or not, Sony has nothing to worry about. The haven't screwed over their customers while Sega has done so 4 times, and 6 times if you include Game Gear and Pico, not to mention SegaCD32x!
