weird the video worked on nulldc with 48khz audio and 9000 bitrate.
i will test on real hardware.
media info shows 2794kbps overall bitrate.
video bitrate 2593
640x368 25fps
192kbps 48khz stereo

Re: Dreamcast 4XM video testing
If it did they might have a downsample code 48khz does not work on hardwareSMiTH wrote:weird the video worked on nulldc with 48khz audio and 9000 bitrate.
i will test on real hardware.

ya im thinking it downsamples the audio tooIan Micheal wrote:If it did they might have a downsample code 48khz does not work on hardwareSMiTH wrote:weird the video worked on nulldc with 48khz audio and 9000 bitrate.

works on real hardware
so now i guess i will convert a music video and use 9000 bitrate 640x368 25fps and 44.1 khz 192kbps stereo audio

Still dont know why it works from dreamon only for me so far..
I did fine the src in archive from dumps from katana kits and it looks like it can be compiled to boot stand-alone i just have to do it
Dreamcast hardware cant run 48khz so it has to be downsample code..
9000 bitrate 640x368 25fps and 44.1 khz 192kbps stereo audio
9000 = a dvd
9000= 9 mbit/sec
Professionally encoded videos average a bitrate of 4–5 Mbit/s with a maximum of 7–8 Mbit/s in high-action scenes. Encoding at less than the max bitrate (like this) is typically done to allow greater compatibility among players,[16] and to help prevent buffer underruns in the case of dirty or scratched discs
As you see most uses 4000 or 4–5 Mbit/s

Re: Dreamcast 4XM video testing
so why after using xilisoft to convert the avi with 9000 bitrate...
the media info of the converted avi shows:
2794kbps overall bitrate.
video bitrate 2593.
is the video actually 2593 bitrate even when converted at 9000 bitrate?
it is confusing.
the dreamon thing with 4xmplay is odd but i bet if we get another source i.e a dc game that uses 4xm
we could use that bin and it would not require ginxfer, ginreset, or a cfg file?

Must be vbr even so that's very high for a dreamcast lolSMiTH wrote:so why after using xilisoft to convert the avi with 9000 bitrate...

Like i noticed 4xm drops bit rate in scenes where it dont needs it dvd does this as well
DVD-Video discs have a raw bitrate of 11.08 Mbit/s, with a 1.0 Mbit/s overhead, leaving a payload bitrate of 10.08 Mbit/s. Of this, up to 3.36 Mbit/s can be used for subtitles, a maximum of 10.08 Mbit/s can be split amongst audio and video, and a maximum of 9.80 Mbit/s can be used for video alone

Re: Dreamcast 4XM video testing
so i tested the music video on real hardware.
it has points where it slows down and audio glitches but i think we are close to finding the sweet spot.
more than likely drop the bitrate to 7000 and it might be fine?
i will upload it so you can check it out.
its still pretty cool imo.
