how long have we been waiting for AOTB? I don't hear anyone complaining bout that
@Ultra: I suggest you give shadowman another try, but play it on a hdtv through vga in a dark room. its a very good game, it usue the same live/deadside mechanics as soulreaver (in fact I suspect eidos to having used the entire Shifter engine for shadowman as well); stick with it for some hours, it'll grow on you, has an awesome soundtrack as well & its a very hard game to beat, not to mention how huge it is, will take you 60 hours or so to complete (if you don't use a guide off course

)
In fact I was thinking of playing it again only this week, coz I'm playing soulreaver atm & the two are so similar. but I'm afraid its going to have to wait (prolly till winter), I just can't "waste" that ammount of time on a game I've finished not so long ago (2 years I think). I got soo many DC gems that still need to be played...

I must say that I love the interface.Reminds of mmo maps the way its styled, and I like that very much.One thing I have to ask,The screen shot is a weird resolution 640 x 400,does that mean its a mock up or an actual shot?I gotta say I like the way the main character looks.I guess iam a sucker for older bulky armor designs.

It had a letterbox around the frame for 640x480. 'Cinematic mode'. I removed the letterbox before posting.

sounds and looks pretty good (Frank, is it?) I like the interface too... I was confused at first, I thought it was the start screen but I understand now that it is the screen control layout like Phantasy Star Online etc. Looks pretty nice and the integrated map looks cool too.
the character in that screen shot looks cool so far but I assume it is not the finished design right? Some of the characters I've seen in your shots looked pretty neat so far but one guy put me off very slightly, he has a cool looking face but is wearing a pretty plain looking golden armor that comes up to his chin! It just looks a bit odd and bulky, but again I guess it is only concept stuff still so I will wait to see the final thing. I guess I've always kinda preferred character models where you can choose between wearing old fashioned armor or asthetically pleasing outfits such as the kind a ranger or archer might wear etc, would be nice to have the option. On that note, are you planning to have different character classes?
I guess it depends on the type of game world and the setting, if its futuristic then obviously they will all be wearing forms of armor such as robotic parts etc and maybe android upgrades etc, but I will wait to see what you guys come up with I'm just looking forward to having another nice big single player campaign on the DC to work through!
Anyway as I said, all looking quite promising, look forward to the end result!

frank: I assume the "map" in the middle of the UI turns round when you move your character? it might be a good idea to to add N(orth), S(outh), E(ast), W(est) arrows or something. give it a more compass like look ( & use). either that, or make the red dot (which I assume is your char) an arrow so it shows which direction you're facing/ walking on the UI. its just a detail but makes a game so much more user friendly.
the in game shot looks great; a treu 3d indie game...the dreamcast's legacy
epic

I agree in labeling north south west and east.I wouldnt like an auto rotating map though.I prefer static map.
Now maybe a suggestion,When locked on to an enemy or talking to a non story event npc maybe you could add a box at the corner that shows an animated model of them along with monster type name and health.Kinda like this

and maybe some use for the vmu. a minigame would prolly be too much asked, but I was thinking more along the lines of a radar to find hidden objects or so, like in Skies Of Arcadia. anyway...something
