Thanks for the tips Alec! I will try them out on my next attempt. I'm currently using auto transmission but I could try manual. I'm just not used to it as I always choose automatic in every racing game I play.

So do I, generally. Like I said, if you race properly, you'll only have to worry about shifting at the very start of the race.
