I played for about 30 minutes yesterday via GDEMU, no issues. A brief test, but I figured I'd share nonetheless. I'm very thankful that somebody decided to revisit this old translation patch to polish it up a bit!

Also, might I suggest you start using version numbers, especially if there's a chance you'll be issuing additional updates.

Right now, I'm keeping track of this release using the date (e.g., Space Channel 5 - Part 2 ('Better' English - v20241204)).
That's what I'm planning to do, if I manage to translate the Dreamcast FMVs which are higher quality, I will release a 1.1

Where are the FMVs coming from now, the PS2 version? I assume so.

What is needed in order for you to do this? Do you require subtitling any FMVs, or just dubbing over the audio using the PS2 version as source?

Subtitling the FMVs, the audio for them is already in english and stored in TITLE.AFS, I believe they're sfds but your autosubber tool isn't outputting anything

Edit: Yes, the current FMVs are from the PS2 version

In what files are the FMVs stored on the disc image? Looks like MAKUMA.AFS has all of the ones you care about (only took a quick glance). My auto-subber tool only accepts valid SFDs as input, but it looks like the videos in MAKUMA.AFS are just generic MPEG-1 (I'm not sure about the audio).

By the way, why would you want to subtitle any FMVs when you already have an English audio source? If anything, you'd want to mux the English audio from the PS2 version with the original Dreamcast FMVs (assuming this wasn't already done for the "legacy" English patch).

All of that said, I really don't think the PS2-sourced video is bad at all. Of course, it's your project though :)

I mean, I was also thinking about adding them untranslated since I already have English audio stored separately, only difference between dreamcast and ps2 fmvs are the intro and report 1's first video which has some small info that doesn't really matter, the FMVs with "Ulala's swinging report show" just add the report title at the end but for the japanese game, you can read the titles from the title screen which are the english ones.

the FMVs are in .bin, I renamed the extension to .sfd then used sofdecvideotools and it extracted just fine.

Link dead. Any chance you could reupload please? Also do you have a GDI version? I'm having issues installing the patch. Thanks!

No CDI, since the patch has been updated and no longer fits on a CD-R.

That being said, both the newest GDI and the last CDI that still fit on a CD-R are on the new CD-Romance repository: https://retrogametalk.com/repository/dc ... ish-patch/

I will see if I can get the patch to fit on a CD-R without that much of a loss in quality when I have time

Edit: Your drive doesn't support overburning? cuz even BrAzE's cdi goes over the 700 MB limit

My drive, and nearly everyone else's, supports overburning. Last I checked, your new patch brings the game data in at over 800MB (meaning the CDI will be even bigger than that).

I'll have to check again. Perhaps I made a mistake!

Don't worry I noticed, I tried my best to save more space and now it's 795 MBs, I do wanna know how you make a .CDI? I tried with PkR's tool, tried burning it into a CD-R and I got LBA miscompare errors
