I have got my SD Adapter! It works great.

I have tested it with a few SDISOs. I'm only using a 2GB card (which I also use for my Atari 2600 Harmony cart) but I want to get a 32GB card.

Hopefully more homebrew software will take advantage of the SD Adapter.

as a Dreamcast nut who has never considered SD cards for anything DC related, I wondered what the application is for this bit of kit....? What's the benefit? I mean I've seen a few mentions of games running off it but how the hell can that work? lol

I have always just burned ISO's to cds via Nero if I ever wanted a game image to run (I have only ever burnt stuff that was not commercially available IE: Doom for DC, Metal Slug, Propeller Arena, Half Life etc) and any image I've burned runs fine for me.

so what are the applications for this bit of kit and are they practicle?

I just got my SD Reader today. From what I see, we can expect a better support for playing retail games with Dreamshell v5 (hopefully in a couple of months). The biggest thing I can see, is not wasting a CD for a 10mb Homebrew. The other thing is that their seems to be a lot of people buying it, so it might increase the interest of DC Developers to utilize it. Someone is probably going to post a lot more than I do but thats what I know.

I know this is off topic but where the funk did you get your BBA and if you don't mind saying how much you got it for?

Hey ZereoX, no sweat, I got it from Ebay, someone in Japan was selling it and he must've reduced the price towards the end of the auction, I got it for about £80 in the end, very happy I just hope its not too complicated to setup

@Anthony817, just wanted to say hello to a fellow Anthony! (although technically I'm Antony lol) and thanks for your suggestions in other threads etc, hopefully I'm not coming across as too much of a dimwitted noob but its the first time I've dabbled with Dreamcast Private servers and BBA's!

Oh and I love your Sig, I was LMFAO, being a Sega/Dreamcast nut I obviously have my personal issues with Sony, but lets just leave it at that lol.

I'm interested to investigate into these SD Card thingies further but I just don't think I can justify the effort to try and get one, I don't use my DC for Homebrew at all really, except the obvious ones such as Metal Slug, Beats Of Rage and Doom for DC, but I may have a further read up. cheers

So is the next DreamShell release coming out anytime soon? I have a job now so i have actual money now lol. But the practicality of it right now just doesn't seem worth it unless I can play games at full speed. It seems that most games either don't work or are choppy. I know things will get fixed but I haven't seen any updates on Swats homepage in awhile.

It is still in the works, not sure when we will see an update. It will be a year in August since Dreamshell 4 came out. I hope he updates it by then.

@DCUltrapro, basically you use a cd to boot games and apps from the Dreamshell operating system. Look at the Dreamshell page I have created with videos showing a bit more info about it, and a better explanation.

http://dcisozone.com/downloads/1799/Dre ... eta-4.html

When you do0n't have to waste a cd just for a small 25mb homebrew game, it gives you areason to try out games you otherwise would have never burnt becasue it is hard to justify burning such a small game when you have 700mb's on a cdr.

I have a 32GB sd card on mine and it is like having a hard drive.

the whole Dreamshell thing sounds very complicated, not the sort of thing I would probably fancy trying out, you have to use Dreamshell to get the SD Card reader to work I assume? And I would need an SD Card reader for my pc as well so I can put the files on a card in the first place right?

This adapter was the best thing I've bought for my Dreamcast in years :)
