If there is no online mode I wouldn't care as long as the game is good. I don't want them to sacrfice quality
for a feature that is hardly going to be used. I would be willing to settle with a later release date if they do decide
to.

I hope it can still go online. This would be the last DC game to go online if it was.

I agree, this late in the game if they can come out with a new retail game that has working online play, they will get more people to buy BBA's and that would only be a good thing. Plus, if this game can be cross platform with PC, and also work with the 56k modem and a PC-DC server that would be awesome.

The thing is if they want it to support modem then they need to add a ppp stack and software to the kallistaOS software. The modem driver exists but the things to control them are not there. I have asked Bluecrab about this and have posted on the reticon forums about this so they no what they are getting into with modem support.

Favrenation could not be more correct. The KOS packages do not contain anything to really work with the modem, besides activating it and maybe sending some packets of information.

We have taken to deliberation that TAHI - The Arocean War will NOT be online. Simply to develop the libraries needed to communicate with the modem will take a VERY long time in research alone and with just two programmers under the ragtag reticons, it may not seem likely.

However, don't loose hope. We do plan on releasing an online version of Tahi, if the first does well. Since when the first is finished the Reticon engine will be complete and thus adding on for a 2nd installment would be much easier, so then we can focus our endeavors on the online functionality as well as the modem functionality.

Our idea structure revolves around using the existing 56k modem and allowing it to modulate to a PC with Linux or Windows. A program will be installed on the PC using java to demodulate the signal and use the PC as a '56k to DSL/LAN converter'.

So far that's the only plan that we have come up with that is most widely available for Dreamcast users.

We've completely ruled out the BBA option since there are not many in existence and those that do exist are rather expensive.

I have always though about the demodulation program. Similarly to ICS in windows. That is a great idea. But yeah I would rather buy an addon or a second game with online later since you would probably have to shove your release date longer.

EDIT: They have a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=362999316544

Thank you for the update, Frank. I love the music, art and the new website. The blog is a great idea; I look forward to following the progress!

Using a java program to create a pc-dc server is interesting. It would certainly make things easier for everyone wanting to get online with their DC. As for the BBA, I wouldn't completely rule it out unless it would be difficult to implement. A lot of us have BBA's and love to use them :) .
