Re: Post your setups
The only real advantage a CRT tv has over modern flatscreen or projectors is the ability to play the Light Gun games on the DC.
I'm lucky in that my CRT has a VGA input so I have the best of both worlds but I realise most folks aren't so fortunate.
Anyway, I far prefer playing DC games through my VGA box into a projector nowadays. You can't beat it !

fyi awhile ago i had a 2003 CRT Sony FD Trinitron Wega 1080I HDTV and it kicked plasma and lcd's ass. plasma and lcd just dont' have that natural anti aliasing effect as a crt would. lcd and plasma make everything look jagged. Gran turismo 4 in 480P looking amazing on my Sony tvDCUltrapro wrote:I know I was being both sarcastic and informative at the same time

Re: Post your setups
so you basically don't want to see the graphics as they are, I've hear this on many occasions, folks who hook up a dc through vga & suddenly start complaining they see pixels & polygons everywhere. isn't the point of the whole thing to get an image as clear as possible, even if it shows the little faults...

Re: Post your setups
thank you, exactly! I love having my dreamcast display in 480p via vga on my 1080p lcd, the picture is soo crisp and sharp and I can see all the details. not all games have jaggy edges on the dc and its certainly better graphical fidelity than any console before it, and I personally think the picture of a DC is better clarity than the ps2 (BY A LONG WAY) the game cube and even the xbox 1, but that's just me lolmazonemayu wrote:so you basically don't want to see the graphics as they are, I've hear this on many occasions, folks who hook up a dc through vga & suddenly start complaining they see pixels & polygons everywhere. isn't the point of the whole thing to get an image as clear as possible, even if it shows the little faults...

Re: Post your setups
the Original xbox blew every other console away in terms of graphical power, and high definition. although the dreamcast was capable of 480P

I wasn't talking about graphics I meant the frames, you know? the clarity of the picture, I dont care what anyone says the original xbox and the ps2 were not true 60fps machines, the DC is the only machine that ran at a true, crystal clear 60fpsaltecgodofchaos wrote:the Original xbox blew every other console away in terms of graphical power, and high definition. although the dreamcast was capable of 480P

Re: Post your setups
I actually have my saturn running on an svid-to-vga converter box, and some games look on par with ps2/xbox1/dc games. Granted some games also look like complete shit...
I also run a projector (Mitsubishi 1080p dlp ) on my primary setup. I havnt seen anything top this experience. The only negative is if this 3D fad wins, I'd have to revamp my main entertainment setup.
