It its that early, I almost wonder if there might have been a deal between sega and the third party manufacturer, for the third party to produce vmus through their additional manufacturers so that there would be sufficient quantity produced for the expected US/worldwide dreamcast buyers in 1999.
Someone take this apart and compare the guts to the sega vmu, the truth needs to be known!
Yeah, it would be awesome too if you could perhaps plug the Performance VMU and the official one into two different controllers and set them to display the same image and put them side by side to see if the screen is any different.

Both of us were playing from a MODE. I am using a .GDI, not sure about my friend. I do have the actual disc so I could try that.
