What's the chip off your shoulder, seriously? I'm not coming here trying to do anything. If you would read, I said that I obviously have no administrative power, but that I think if some of us would agree to it, it would make the board a better place for discussion. I don't even know what you're talking about when you say other forums. These suggestions are purely my own. Please back down with the assumptions and accusations and take some time to actually consider what I said. This thread was meant to be a completely non-aggressive point of discussion.
no chip, im just sick of the bickering. i read the reports that some of you guys are reporting to us and they are stupid. these problems didn't exist until recently. you don't have to respond to any threads either. if you have an issue with something try making your own threads. stay out of each others way. i don't agree with any of the speculations and rumors, but i don't poke my nose in and say they are wrong either. i said what i thought about these rumors back when we made the rumor section. its so unlikely that i don't need to take part in any of them anymore. i might read over the thread and make a post now and then but that's it.

On second thought, I don't think this post is entirely appropriate.

comradesnarky wrote:Seriously, we need some. This is a great community but this board would be a mark on the good reputation of any community. It's embarrassing. This is an extra sensitive issue, I believe, because this board is rather important in the DC community.

Obviously, I have no administrative powers, but I think if we all vaguely agreed to some kind of standards it would benefit the board greatly.

1 - Absolutely nothing linked, copied/pasted, or anything else coming from Zach Morris and company.
Seriously, it's a bad joke. This is the internet - we have no way of verifying their identities, nor have they provided any evidence of who they say they are. Many things should be taken with a grain of salt in life - especially blogs on free hosting sites claiming to be run by Sega insiders with an accuracy record of zero.

2 - Be "realistic."
We shouldn't be getting anyone's hopes up. Sega probably aren't releasing a new console any time soon. I've posted a few analyses of their financial information, and if anyone wants to track them down, they can see why. It's not terribly feasible right now. That said, I'm not the end all be all authority. Could something happen? Absolutely. But to be believed it should probably come from a rather large media outlet with a proven track record. It's pretty rare that small video game sites break major stories.

3 - Speculate!
Let's have some fun speculation! Let's not get hung up over news articles or other things. These threads are fun. They're great to read and really spark the imagination. That's how it should be when we're all discussing our favorite console maker.

4 - Be reasonable
This board shouldn't be a draconian exercise in first grade logic. Someone disagreeing with information shouldn't be met with "no, you prove it." If you don't wish for your information to be scrutinized, don't post it. Disagreements happen and bad information goes around. Welcome to the real world. That said, if you have a rumor that does have weight, you should do your best to show where it comes from. Likewise, if someone debunks said rumor, drop it. Don't drag it out. Dragging it on continues the argument for basically any person.

Besides the "no, you prove it" attitude that the board is plagued with, there's also a bad case of "my friend's uncle's cousin works for Nintendo" attitude on the board by using unproven anecdotal evidence to defend oneself. That should stop as well.

5 - Easy on the fanboy stuff
If someone does take it upon themselves to look into your rumor and finds contradictory evidence, don't say they're a Sega hater. They're probably not.

We do have standards here. The rumor/speculation section is a small part of Dreamcast-Talk. This section means nothing in the big picture. It has nothing to do with Dreamcast itself. Therefore, this stain on the pants on dc-talk is about to get shaped up.

Gary_b speaks the word. He is a global moderator here and he's upholding our standards. This section was created to house all the garbage rumors and speculation regardless of how dumb they sound, their source, etc. That is the nature of rumors. They come from bad sources, be it Zach Morris or not. We all know that most, if not all are untrue. It's suppose to be fun. But not when people nitpick the crap out of them.

Arguments in the section are unnecessary and will no longer be tolerated. If you don't agree with something, move on or be "moved on".
