What do you think about the game?

I checked out the video and it looks pretty good, which is encouraging.
Hopefully more news will come out in time for E3 in June.
No more news is expected until May. SEGA's GAMERs day press releases are scheduled for Friday May 13.

Well I just checked google for a Sega Gamer's Day this year and could not find any information on it, I imagine if there is a Gamer's Day held this year then Sonic Generations would certainly feature, however if not then the next logical date would obviously be E3 in June.

Having looked at the Sega blog site it looks like a lot of Wii owners are a bit pissed over the apparent snub of their system. I wonder if Sega is planning to make Sonic Generations only available on the Sony and Microsoft platforms, or whether the game will get ported over to Nintendo's much rumored new machine, currently codenamed "Cafe"?

Just found this video interview with Takashi Iizuka done by a spanish language site called www.meristation.com. It shows actual gameplay not seen in the trailer, it actually looks great, the more I see of this game the more encouraged I am getting.

Check it out here: http://www.meristation.com/v3/des_notic ... 0d&pic=GEN

Here's the link to the dedicated Sonic Generations forum on the Sega site where I got this vid from:

SEGA has no plans to support Nintendo's next machine. There isn't a shred of evidence that they are going to publish any multiplatform games next year or beyond since project "CAFE" won't even launch until 2013. The closest anyone will get from SEGA 3rd platform wise is DLC. As of early 2012 all SEGA 3rd party IPs will be downloadable, social networking, and 3DS and NGP.

I found information on GAMER's day a.k.a. SEGA MAYDAY. By checking SEGASammy's official website. They're finicial roadmap, shareholders meeting for the 2012 fiscal year and press annoucements are scheduled for May 6 and May 13.

The absence of a Wii version of the game might be because SEGA has a 3rd platformer , and that 3rd platformer may in fact be the KIDSPAD.

Sigh .. not this again

OK MrSega you believe that Sega will be dropping out of 3rd party publishing on the PS3/Xbox360/Wii next year and that they will be announcing this KIDSPAD thing that you keep talking about.

Thats your opinion and your entitled to it, I happen to disagree but I made a promise to Impulse not to counter your "rumors".
This section is setup as a place were we are allowed to post any old rumors no matter how stupid they are and whether they have sources or not.

As for what I believe?

Well I believe that Sega will stay a 3rd party publisher on the PS3/Wii and Xbox360 and will probably sign up to develop titles for the "Cafe" system as well.

The question I asked wasn't specifically asked to you, I asked it to anyone else that had an opinion, if you disagree just say so and leave it at that.

Nobody is talking about so called "stupid" rumors. I'm speculating on KIDSPAD because that's the latest trademark filed by SEGA. Since it was filed last month, no official or public information is availible. I choose to speculate on KIDSPAD soley because its a hardware trademark. We know its real, we know by the trademark description its a game tablet, what kind of game tablet and whether it will be for commercial purposes or educational purposes remains to be seen. We will find out next month.

As for SEGA leaving the 3rd party console market in 2012, I've been saying this since 2010. Your opinion is your opinion, my claims are based on investigating SEGASammy's finicial reports from the past two years, both have stated R&D on platform IPs being decreased with stepping up development more on networking games, and DLC. This points to SEGA expanding other fields in 3rd party development.

SEGA is publishing less and less 3rd party console games because they profit more from a smaller multiplatform catolouge. My thoery has been SEGA publishing less and less 3rd party console games to point of no longer investing in multiplatolform games and far more digital and download titles comes from what I've seen. Its my opinion, but from all the evidence I've seen, this is likely to be proven correct.

Nevertheless, all questions regaurding what SEGA plans to do businesswise throughout the next year will be anwsered in May. So let's all wait for May 13.

I read the financial statements too to see if your claims had any ground... the statements said that mobile publishing was highly profitable and that they would be ramping up effort in this area. Not halting non-downloadable games.

Wait what? Okay, let's break it down.
SEGA is publishing less and less 3rd party console games because they profit more from a smaller multiplatform catolouge.
A logical business decision.
My thoery has been SEGA publishing less and less 3rd party console games to point of no longer investing in multiplatolform games and far more digital and download titles comes from what I've seen.
You just gave the reason why Sega is publishing less third party games. How do you then make the jump to this being evidence of them re-entering the console market?
Nevertheless, all questions regaurding what SEGA plans to do businesswise throughout the next year will be anwsered in May. So let's all wait for May 13.
Then wait! Stop posting this stuff. You wait until May 13th, we wait until May 13th.

In no way did I state that SEGA leaving the mutiplatform market is evidence of a new console. As I mentioned, the truth about them moving away from multiplatform publishing will be discussed in thier upcomming 2011 fiscal report.

FYI, Sega transformed its entire US division into a digital only publishing division back in 2009. Also SEGA's investing and establishing digital, social networking domains and fiber optic markets in the recent fiscal year instead of purchasing new developers like they did in 2005-2006.

Anyway the only rumor I'm focused on is KIDSPAD. What I was suggesting was that the 3rd platformer for Sonic Generations/Sonic 2011 may be KIDSPAD. Especially if KIDSPAD has the same archetecture as I-Pad or I-pad 2, that would mean the device is powerful enough to handle the game.

If I get any screenshots or info on Sonic Generations, I'll let everyone know.

It would seem that SEGA is paying tribute to the original Sonic with the older Sonic being featured as a playable character as well as tipping the hat to thier longest living console the SEGA Genesis with the game's presumed title.

What a way to celebrate the 20th birthday of Sonic, huh?
