Re: Tahi - The Arocean War (9-9-09)
The bad news is that these things sometime have a great start in concept, but then finding the time to finish these projects are usually what kills projects (being it is being done by a human, not a corporation). I did PM Reticon.

Hello folks,
It has been a while and yes, I did recieve your PM Bob, thank you.
It's been incredibly busy for all of us here, but oh, we are far from discouraged =)
Here is what I sent to Bob via Private Message:
Everything is going well right now for the game's development, we've just recently acquired a musical composer who will be creating the entire soundtrack to Tahi. She will be mimicking the styles of Philip Glass with songs that have a similar feeling to that of Koyaanisqatsi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sps6C9u7ras&feature=fvw)
The website has gone over an entire reconstruction and will actually be released incredibly soon! We're just going over the final logistics of the website and it should be up in no more than two weeks!
As for the programming and developing itself, it is going a little bit roughly but still pushing along. I'm currently applying my theory that has been written down into actual programing and I'd say about 60% of the time it does not work, so you could say it is a learning process for me at this time. I'm currently harnessing the power of the OBJ format to interpret my vectors into a readable format for the Dreamcast and sometimes with failure and then with success. Some of the models though are little too high of a poly count and so I'll either have to make the code more efficient or lower the poly count. I'm also working on a PC driven engine that Tahi will be made on so that future DC brewers can put together games in a much more user friendly environment because I'll tell you folks, that programming on a Dreamcast is NOT easy, there are a lot of open holes and undiscovered territory that I'm currently carefully researching and applying algorithms to. This is going to be one heck of a project!
So please, spread the news to this forum as well as any/all of the other forums you know, we're not gone, we're just carefully brewing for our big opening for the website and then everything should start falling into place.
If you would like to take a preview of our new logo that we will be implementing:

We're very serious about our endeavor here, it will take us all some time but when it's done it will PROVE that the Dreamcast is STILL thinking because we're gonna run some rings around it!
- Frank & The Ragtag Reticons!
So keep in touch folks, if you have questions, email us! the website will be up soon and trust us, you'll be blown off of your feet!

Also,
as to the previous music, it was not composed by this musician we have now, she is a classical and instrumental composer, she is amazing!

Wow I'd never heard of this game before this thread. Models look great from a while back, and it is exciting to hear that progress is still being made on this.
Keep up the good work!

It's not as costly as you may think. As long as you have the skills and know people in different fields who WANT to learn and do something different, then it's a win-win situation.
However, there is no such thing as a free lunch, so there ARE costs involved, such as hardware and time, I would say time is the largest cost to us thus far, even though it is not fiscal at all, it still costly because we all have limited time.
