It's Still Thinking...My DC2 Ad

Made this video a while ago but I figured I'd post it here. It's an ad I whipped up for the Dreamcast 2. Let me know what you think.

Its always good to see a fan dream. Though I wish that they stop automatically assuming that SEGA's next system will be called Dreamcast 2. SEGA's next machine will likely be called something else.

Also, watch for SEGA's next arcade board. Listen carefully if it will be PC based or not. If it isn't, they've got a console in the works.

Actually, if you'll notice I actually didn't say Dreamcast 2 in the video (with the exception of the DC logo). I wanted it to be kind of mysterious. Anyway, you're probably right, Sega has never made two consoles with the same name.

So if its not PC based, then there is a console in the works?

Correct. It would mean that the hardware is completely original and unqiue. All of SEGA's consoles were based off of non PC arcade hardware. As a cost cutting measure if the hardware was a little too costly for home consumer use, SEGA would just simply modify it and use cheaper parts or go for a hardware set simlaur in power but less expensive. If SEGA's next board is non PC based, it would make sense to license it for home consumer and OEM use, since wasting R&D on developing original arcade hardware for amusment use only would be terrible and wastefull investment.

Both LINDBERGH and RINGEDGE are PC based. NAOMI and the boards before that except Model 3 used original hardware.

Hitachi,Imagination Tech,NEC and Fujistu are all contracted to design run of the mill arcade hardware for SEGA that they consider unique. If Intel and Nvidia aren't in the equation, thats a very GOOD SIGN.

Thanks. I'm glad I can find SEGA fans who know in thier heart that the company will return to the home console business. It sucks that SEGA is just so damn finicky about rumors. They go to great lengths to keep all SEGA rumors under radar, and stops anyone from speculating on thier official Forum. Plus they don't bother people that report rumors under radar, but if I were an insider source trying to report info I'd find on SEGA to game journalists, I'm pretty sure SEGA would try to shut me down. Because of this, you'll always get cyncial people trying to discourage anything hardware realated from SEGA.

Even if NVIDIA and Intel are involved, that doesn't mean it can't be a console. NVIDIA developed the GPU for the original Xbox and as well as the PS3. Intel developed the CPU for the Xbox.
