What happened to Air Nights?

Post by Van Halbgott »

I think Sega was developing a sequel to Nights into Dreams (Saturn; 1996) called Air Nights before it got cancelled until the Wii sequel came out.

Does anybody want to see Nights appear on the Dreamcast, besides the cameo in Sonic Adventure?

I can't imagine Air NiGHTS got very far in development, seeing how there's almost no information or imagery available for it on the internet, besides the concepts for a new Dreamcast motion controller.

I could have been nice to see. I'm an outlier in that I actually don't particularly enjoy the original NiGHTS - I don't find the courses particularly easy to navigate and there are some clunky gimmicks introduced in the later levels. I prefer Christmas NiGHTS for these reasons, since the first course feels the smoothest and most fun to navigate and blast through. With some gameplay improvements and perhaps widescreen support, a Dreamcast sequel could have been good.
