Dreampi fax modem only lighting up one light

Hi all,

I’m trying to play some quake 3 online and I set up my dreampi again. However I noticed one of the lights on the USB modem wasn’t lit and I’m getting an error message on the game saying “no dial tone.” I ordered this modem about 2 years ago from the Dreamcast live website. I can post a video of my pi startup if that can help. Thanks

Only getting one light on the USB modem means there's an issue on the Pi side. The DreamPi software isn't starting up. 99% of the time, it's because it can't detect an internet connection. There's a comprehensive troubleshooting guide here that you should look at.

When I get this, I just restart my Pi. It might take a couple of attempts but it tends to sort it self out.

When I had this issue it had to do with the line voltage inducer not working properly.

The line voltage inducer has zero effect on the modem lights. It's completely software-related. You should get two lights on the modem even if you don't have a phone cable or inducer plugged into it.

i would check your firewall settings too...make sure traffic is being allowed
