PSO ver. 2 crashing

Hi all I was wondering if you could help me. I've been trying to play PSO ver.2 but when I go to talk to the hunter you are looking for in the battle training mission (pictured) my screen goes black and the music plays but it never loads. I thought it might be the ROM or the CD so I went to a different ROM site and burned it to a new CD but it crashed in exactly the same place again. Is this a known issue? A Google search didn't help as its flooded with PSO2 stuff.

AFAIK the only pso v2 version fully working is the Ives' one. You can find it at https://psopalace.sylverant.net/downloads.html

The others crash when someone try to join you (pc and npc) outside of pioneer 2. This is a "hidden" anti-piracy measure and Ives is the only who released a fixed version.

go with any of these:
ives .cdi, or a retail copy with sylverant patcher bootdisk, or a modified .gdi
all other versions have issues with quests, targeting players, walking through walls, etc.
depends how serious you are when playing pso as to what version to choose.
for me all i want is a version that allows for a pso lobby connection lol

I just want to mess about offline to be honest. I never played it before so wanted to give it a go first. It took me 3 months to find the codes to play the thing as all the ones I found on forums weren't working. If I downloaded ver.1 would I have to look for a code again?

easy thing to do would be to d/l ives .cdi and be done with it.
