I've been playing some fun games recently - THPS, Re-Volt, Worms, but now I am in the mood for a more serious game. Can anyone recommend a game with a good story and atmosphere? I do have The Nomad Soul but I can't get along with its controls / UI and menus / saving system. It can be any genre!
Cheers.

Grandia II was pretty nice story-wise.
Sky of Arcadia and Record of Lodoss War are not bad as well.

I would say Shenmue, though its a fairly divisive game. You'll love it or completely hate it basically. Grandia 2 is an amazing RPG, one of the best I have ever played.

Skies of Arcadia.
I can try my skills there. I'll stay safe this way. That event will provide me with australian open prize money 2018. I'm sure about it.

Omikron: The Nomad Soul
A very nice example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
Nothing the game does it does particularly well, but as a whole it just works.
VGA is recommended. Text is very small. So you want it crisp.

Re: Recommend me a game with a good story
I second both Grandia II and Skies of Arcadia. I’ve already beaten Grandia II and it’s easily one of my favorite RPGs from that era. For the most part, the game features your standard JRPG troupes. I’m currently playing through Skies of Arcadia and the story seems to be pretty similar to FFXII.
