DreamPi + Multiple Modems and Dreamcasts = Local (Online) 4-player PSO?
So if you had all the hardware for a regular DreamPi setup plus three extra USB modems and Dreamcasts, could you use that one DreamPi as the "router" and have a four-player game of Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online? Or would such a thing require four DreamPi's?

You'd need 4 Pis and it would only work if you ran the server yourself inside your network. You'd also have to fiddle with the DNS server on each pi to find your server. I haven't tried this, but it should work.
External servers won't work as there's no NAT traversal stuff in the dial up games: from the outside world all 4 Pis would share the same IP and that won't work.
Could be a cool experiment!

its possible. but you'd need four Pi's, four modems, four games/consoles, then compile the sylverant server on one of the Pi's, configure the server, add the DNS redirects on the client Pi's to the host Pi
then you'd need to make a KOS toolchain (difficult, but there is a pre compiled linux distro with KOS ready to go on assemblergames) and compile the PSO patch disc to point to the host Pi and burn four copies
tl;dr its possible but setting it up might take a novice about a week

Thanks for the advice, guys. It definitely sounds like playing a GameCube copy of PSO is the simpler and cheaper way to go for local multiplayer, even if it isn't as cool.
