Only way to add people is by exchanging guild cards I think they're called something else but essentially it's the same as the older PSO's. You'll need to know whenever a friend has started a room and then you can search for their room by their name and then exchange cards. There is no voice chatting within the game, like you said you'll need to use skype. But that would require you to be around a PC or laptop of course. That's what me and Doc do at least when we meet up on it.

Trying to chat in the game via text is rather troublesome.

@Favrenation, yeah definitely. Especially if your a PSO/PSU fan. I like it more than PSU to be honest.

damn yeah i didn't think psp could run skype and pso at the same time. but being around a laptop or computer is a bit easier when the consol can move with you :D

so you can run skype on the psp and PSP2 at the same time? Also if I just "download" the game will I be able to play online or do I need to buy a copy.

No unfortunately, you will need to use skype on a PC or Laptop you have around like you normally would. And if you were to "download" the game you can only play via tunneling on XlinkKai using adhoc mode with friends. Would require you do to some tinkering with a wireless router IIRC.

Playing online on the official servers not only require a legit copy but also the game comes with one redeem code to go online. Another words, even if you purchase a used copy you cannot go online without that code. I'll be more than willing to try out xlinkkai adhoc mode if any are interested even though I have access to the official servers as well.

I use Xlink Kai for my PS2 so i know my way around there. I think I would have to get a wifimax though and I heard it is difficult to tunnel it. I planned on buying a copy eventually but I might as well just do it upfront. The fact that I can play it anywhere is a great supplemant to PSO on DC. I know it is similar to PSU though and I have never played that but it looks interesting. Another game I want to try is PS zero for DS. I have a modded DS so I could try that and it supports voice-chat.

You could always download the demo and try it out before purchasing it to see if you like it. IIRC you can even import your demo character so your progress is not lost. There is quite some big differences to PSOv2 but it's still the same core gameplay imo and you occasionally get the nostalgia from the old PSO. For example, you sometimes get a random dragon boss when doing some missions and they play the old original dragon music in the background.
